Effect of autonomic nervous system resection extent on urinary dysfunction in robotic rectal cancer surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In rectal cancer surgery, this study examined the risk factors for urinary dysfunction and the effect of autonomic nervous system resection extent on urinary dysfunction. Autonomic nervous system resection and lateral lymph node dissection were independent risk factors for urinary dysfunction.

Mucosal incision‐assisted biopsy versus endoscopic ultrasound‐guided fine‐needle aspiration with a rapid on‐site evaluation for gastric subepithelial lesions: A randomized cross‐over study

open access: yesDigestive Endoscopy, 2019
This study aimed to compare the diagnostic yield of mucosal incision‐assisted biopsy (MIAB) and endoscopic ultrasound‐guided fine‐needle aspiration (EUS‐FNA) with a rapid on‐site evaluation (ROSE) for gastric subepithelial lesions (SEL) suspected of ...

Impact of endoscopic ultrasound on diagnosis and management of presumed mucinous neoplasms when done for pancreatic cyst morphology change on non-invasive surveillance imaging

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2019
Background and study aims Guidelines for management of presumed neoplastic pancreatic cysts have encouraged noninvasive imaging for low-risk surveillance, while reserving endoscopic ultrasound for worrisome features including morphologic change.

A Three-limb Teleoperated Robotic System with Foot Control for Flexible Endoscopic Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Flexible endoscopy requires high skills to manipulate both the endoscope and associated instruments. In most robotic flexible endoscopic systems, the endoscope and instruments are controlled separately by two operators, which may result in communication errors and inefficient operation.

Effects on the maternofetal unit of the rabbit model after substitution of the amniotic fluid with perfluorocarbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Objectives: Exchanging amniotic fluid (AF) with perfluorocarbon (PFC) may serve as a medium for fetoscopic surgery. This study evaluates the distribution and physiologic effects of intraamniotic PFC as a medium for fetoscopy.

Association between surgical difficulty and tumor location based on subsegments of the Glisson branches in laparoscopic liver resection

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Our study validates the need for a more detailed and accurate tumor location scoring system within the IWATE criteria. The proposed classification based on subsegmental Glisson branches provides a sophisticated tool for assessing LLR difficulty. By providing a more detailed assessment, this new system has the potential to enhance surgical planning ...

Endoscopic Ultrasound‑Guided Fine Needle Aspiration from Pericardial Lesion: A Case of Metastatic Pericardial Involvement from Breast Malignancy

open access: yesJournal of Digestive Endoscopy, 2018
Tissue acquisition from mediastinum is difficult due to anatomic location and presence of vessels. Endoscopic ultrasound provides access to difficult mediastinal locations that are near esophagus.

Optical-resolution photoacoustic imaging through thick tissue with a thin capillary as a dual optical-in acoustic-out waveguide

open access: yes, 2015
We demonstrate the ability to guide high-frequency photoacoustic waves through thick tissue with a water-filled silica-capillary (150 \mu m inner diameter and 30 mm long).

Metachronous Intraductal Papillary Neoplasm of the Bile Duct and Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm of the Pancreas in a Patient Diagnosed With Mucinous Adenocarcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB) is a rare biliary tumor, which shares some radiologic and histologic similarities with pancreatic intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN).
