Active Gallbladder Lavage Using a Double‐pigtail Plastic Stent Delivery System During Endoscopic Ultrasound‐guided Gallbladder Drainage (With Video)

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Endoscopic ultrasound‐guided gallbladder drainage using a double‐pigtail plastic stent (DPPS) harbors the risk of bile leakage and pneumoperitoneum through the anastomosis site. When the inner sheath of the DPPS system is retracted halfway back into the stent, multiple side holes emerge on the stent end, which accelerates the active gallbladder lavage.

Diagnostic Value of Endoscopic Ultrasound‐Guided Tissue Acquisition With Rapid On‐Site Evaluation in Small Gastric Subepithelial Lesions

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Gastric subepithelial lesions (SELs) measuring <20 mm without high‐risk features are typically managed with periodic surveillance, while surgical resection is recommended for gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) per the Japanese guideline.

The Learning Curve of Junior Endoscopists in EUS‐Guided Gastroenterostomy With the Wireless Simplified Technique: A Prospective Study

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Learning curve of EUS‐guided Gastroenterostomy (EUS‐GE) has been explored through retrospective studies involving few elite senior endoscopists (SE), with procedural time as the main surrogate outcome. This study aims to evaluate the training of junior endoscopists (JE) approaching the technique and cover clinically relevant ...

Endosonography and magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of high anal fistulae – a comparison

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasonography, 2014
Anal fistula is a benign inflammatory disease with unclear etiology which develops in approximately 10 in 100 000 adult patients. Surgical treatment of fistulae is associated with a risk of damaging anal sphincters.

Effectiveness and safety of a single 7-french plastic stent for endoscopic ultrasound-guided pancreatic pseudocyst drainage and long-term follow-up outcomes

open access: yesJournal of Medical Ultrasound, 2021
Background: Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided cystogastrostomy with a single 7-French (Fr) double-pigtail stent (DPS) is less popular due to the concern of stent patency.

Paired Duodenal and Salivary Microbiome Analysis in Pancreatic Cancer Without Duct Obstruction

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Bacterial migration from the oral cavity to the upper gastrointestinal tract has been proposed as a contributor to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) onset and prognosis. Whether PDAC is associated with alterations of the oral–duodenal microbiome continuum remains unclear.

Role of ultrasound in colorectal diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Ultrasound is an undervalued non-invasive examination in the diagnosis of colonic diseases. It has been replaced by the considerably more expensive magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, despite the fact that, as first examination, it can ...
