Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Products Targeting Right Ventricular Dysfunction in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: Toward Precision Cardiometabolic Therapy

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
Natural products and traditional Chinese medicine target metabolic pathways underlying right ventricular dysfunction in pulmonary arterial hypertension. Integrating multi‐omics, artificial intelligence, and systems biology may enable precision cardiometabolic therapies to restore right ventricular metabolism and improve clinical outcomes.

S100A9 promotes pulmonary arterial hypertension by regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum interaction‐mediated inflammatory injury of endothelial cells

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Macrophage‐derived S100 calcium‐binding protein A9 (S100A9) promotes the pathological progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). S100A9 upregulates the interaction between signal‐transducing adaptor protein 2 and leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2, thereby regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum (ER) contact.

The gastrointestinal endothelin system: receptors, cellular actions, and involvement in gastrointestinal disorders

open access: yesGastroenterology Review
The gastrointestinal endothelin system regulates vital processes including motility, secretion, sensation, and inflammation. Endothelin-1 acts via endothelin A and B receptors expressed on diverse intestinal cells.

A compendium of extracellular vesicle biogenesis inhibitors: From bench to bedside

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
This review explores a decade of research on extracellular vesicles (EVs), detailing their biogenesis and roles in health and disease. It emphasizes EVs' relevance for potential medical applications covering various conditions such as cancer, neurodegeneration, inflammation, and infectious diseases, bridging experimental findings with clinical ...

Elevated Plasma Endothelin-1 Levels in Normal Tension Glaucoma and Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma: A Meta-Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2016
Purpose. The aim of this meta-analysis was to clarify the association between the plasma endothelin-1 level and the risks of normal tension glaucoma (NTG) and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). Methods.

Endothelin-1 release by endothelial cells stimulated with B2R and D2R agonists.

open access: yes, 2018
Confluent cell cultures were preincubated with 10 ng/ml TNF-α for 6 hours, followed by stimulation with 100 nM BK, 100 nM SUM, or both agonists simultaneously for 24 hours and the ET-1 concentration was measured by ELISA. The bars present the mean values

Endothelin-1, endothelin receptor antagonists, and vein graft occlusion in coronary artery bypass surgery: 20 years on and still no journey from bench to bedside [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The saphenous vein is the most commonly used bypass graft in patients with coronary artery disease. During routine coronary artery bypass, grafting the vascular damage inflicted on the vein is likely to stimulate the release of endothelin-1, a potent ...

Hell's Itch: A Self‐Case Report

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hell's itch is a severely distressing dermatological condition characterized by the onset of incessant itching and intolerable pain 2–3 days post‐sunburn. It is underdiagnosed and underreported, and no definitive management framework has yet been developed.

Profile of Endothelin-1, Nitric Oxide, and Prostacyclin Levels in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Related to Uncorrected Atrial Septal Defect: Results from a Single Center Study in Indonesia

open access: yesCardiology Research and Practice, 2020
Background and Objectives. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) pathomechanism involves an increased plasma level of endothelin-1 and a reduced plasma level of prostacyclin and nitric oxide.
