Development of a Clinically Relevant Rabbit Model of Acute Laryngeal Injury

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives Acute laryngeal injury (ALgI) is created as a result of endotracheal tube pressure ulcer formation leading to fibrosis and inflammation. This condition often leads to airway obstruction and voice and swallowing dysfunction. This study demonstrates a reliable animal model of ALgI to reproduce the acute wound process seen clinically ...

Infraglottic Edema and Subglottic Stenosis in Tracheostomy‐Dependent Children: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 6, December 2025.
Infraglottic edema is a frequent early finding in tracheostomy‐dependent children and may signal airway vulnerability. Although not independently predictive, its association with higher odds of subglottic stenosis suggests a potential early marker of subglottic injury that warrants further prospective investigation.

Tissue Kallikrein as a Mediator in Stroke Outcomes among Patients With Metabolic Syndrome: A Multicenter Study Integrating Big Data and Biomarkers

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
Metabolic syndrome is associated with adverse stroke outcomes. KLK1 acts as a mediating factor linking metabolic syndrome and stroke prognosis. KLK1 could be a therapeutic target for stroke patients with metabolic comorbidities. ABSTRACT Metabolic syndrome (MetS) poses a significant risk to the cerebrovascular system, impacting the prognosis of stroke ...

The use of low‐dose dexmedetomidine constant rate infusion to stabilise blood glucose in a domestic ferret (Mustela putorius furo) with insulinoma undergoing sevoflurane anaesthesia

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract A 5.5‐year‐old, male domestic ferret (Mustela putorius furo) diagnosed with insulinoma was presented for a dental procedure under general anaesthesia. In insulinoma patients, it is essential to avoid hypoglycaemia. In other species, constant rate infusion of dexmedetomidine has been reported to sustain adequate blood glucose by inhibiting ...
