Comparing the effect of using normal saline, N-acetyl cysteine and not using them in endotracheal tube suction on physiologic parameters and the amount of secretions in intubated patients under mechanical ventilation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Aims: Today a large number of patients hospitalized in Intensive Care Unit need mechanical ventilation via an artificial air way. Since these patients have endotracheal tube, endotracheal suctioning is necessary for increasing oxygenation, cleaning the ...

Comparison of four endotracheal tube cleaning protocols in anesthetized dogs [PDF]

open access: yes
The purpose of this dissertation is to review the evidence available for endotracheal tube (ETT) disinfection and compare the efficacy of four endotracheal tube cleaning protocols in a clinical population of anesthetized dogs.

Innovative Application of a Microlaryngeal Surgery Tube for difficult Airway Management in a Case of Down’s Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
An 11-year-old male child, known case of down’s syndrome with congenital oesophageal stricture was posted for oesophageal dilatation. Preoperative airway assessment revealed a high arched palate, receding mandible and Mallampati Score of 2.

Automatic classification of multiple catheters in neonatal radiographs with deep learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We develop and evaluate a deep learning algorithm to classify multiple catheters on neonatal chest and abdominal radiographs. A convolutional neural network (CNN) was trained using a dataset of 777 neonatal chest and abdominal radiographs, with a split of 81%-9%-10% for training-validation-testing, respectively.

Efficacy of Dexmedetomidine for endotracheal tube tolerance, analgesia and sedation – A prospective randomised double blind controlled trial

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2016
Background: Endotracheal tube tolerance is a major concern in patients who require postoperative retention of endotracheal tube following major head and neck cancer surgeries.

Twisted magnetic flux tubes in the solar wind [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Magnetic flux tubes in the solar wind can be twisted as they are transported from the solar surface, where the tubes are twisted owing to photospheric motions. It is suggested that the twisted magnetic tubes can be detected as the variation of total (thermal+magnetic) pressure during their passage through observing satellite.

Does endo-tracheal tube clamping prevent air leaks and maintain positive end-expiratory pressure during the switching of a ventilator in a patient in an intensive care unit? A bench study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
ObjectivesWhen patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome are moved out of an intensive care unit, the ventilator often requires changing. This procedure suppresses positive end expiratory pressure and promotes lung derecruitment.

Randomized crossover comparison of proportional assist ventilation and patient-triggered ventilation in extremely low birth weight infants with evolving chronic lung disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: Refinement of ventilatory techniques remains a challenge given the persistence of chronic lung disease of preterm infants. Objective: To test the hypothesis that proportional assist ventilation ( PAV) will allow to lower the ventilator ...

The effect of adhesive tape versus endotracheal tube fastener in critically ill adults: the endotracheal tube securement (ETTS) randomized controlled trial

open access: yesCritical Care, 2019
Background The optimal securement method of endotracheal tubes is unknown but should prevent dislodgement while minimizing complications. The use of an endotracheal tube fastener might reduce complications among critically ill adults undergoing ...
