A Convoy of Magnetic Millirobots Transports Endoscopic Instruments for Minimally‐Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The first electrocautery procedure performed by a team of millirobots (TrainBots) is presented. Enhanced with optimized feet, millirobots form a convoy to facilitate the collaborative transportation of wires and catheters through biological lumens, e.g. bile ducts. It opens up the possibility of using a team of mini‐robots in future endoscopic surgery.

Endovascular stenting of spontaneous isolated dissection of superior mesenteric artery

open access: yesIndian Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2019
Spontaneous isolated dissection of the superior mesenteric artery (SID-SMA) is a rare condition often presenting with vague signs and symptoms. Although the disease entity is rare, the potential for morbidity and mortality is high.

Fenestrated Endovascular Aneurysm Repair versus Snorkel Endovascular Aneurysm Repair: Competing yet Complementary Strategies. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Juxtarenal/pararenal aortic aneurysms and type IV thoracoabdominal aneurysms pose particular technical challenges for endovascular repair as they involve the visceral segment in addition to insufficient infrarenal neck for the use of standard ...

eTICI reperfusion: defining success in endovascular stroke therapy

open access: yesJournal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, 2018
Background Revascularization after endovascular therapy for acute ischemic stroke is measured by the Thrombolysis In Cerebral Infarction (TICI) scale, yet variability exists in scale definitions.

IRF8 Drives Conventional Type 1 Dendritic Cell Differentiation and CD8+ T Cell Activation to Aggravate Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights the critical role of IRF8 in the development of AAA. IRF8 activation promotes the differentiation of cDC1s, which in turn recruit and activate CD8+ T cells, contributing to aortic wall degradation. The study identifies the IRF8‐cDC1‐CD8+ T cell axis as a key pathway in AAA progression, offering new potential therapeutic targets to

Carotid-cavernous fistula caused by laceration of persistent fetal trigeminal artery treated with single catheter coil embolization

open access: yesIndian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2012
We present the endovascular treatment of traumatic carotid-cavernous fistula from persistent fetal trigeminal artery (PFTA) laceration. To date, there are six such cases of traumatic PFTA-cavernous fistulas reported in the literature.

AI-based Agents for Automated Robotic Endovascular Guidewire Manipulation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Endovascular guidewire manipulation is essential for minimally-invasive clinical applications (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), Mechanical thrombectomy techniques for acute ischemic stroke (AIS), or Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS)).

Design and Experimental Validation of an Active Catheter for Endovascular Navigation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Devices, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), 2018, 12 (1), pp.011003, 2019
Endovascular technique has many advantages but relies strongly on operator skills and experience. Robotically steerable catheters have been developed but few are clinically available. We describe here the development of an active and efficient catheter based on Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) actuators.

Combined transbrachial and transfemoral strategy to deploy an iliac branch endoprosthesis in the setting of a pre-existing endovascular aortic aneurysm repair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This article describes brachial access to position a long sheath in the abdominal aorta in conjunction with a large caliber sheath via the femoral artery ipsilateral to the target site to deliver a 0.018 bodyfloss wire.

A randomized trial comparing conventional and endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2004
BACKGROUND Although the initial results of endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms were promising, current evidence from controlled studies does not convincingly show a reduction in 30-day mortality relative to that achieved with open repair.
