Endovascular coiling versus neurosurgical clipping for people with aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage.

open access: yesCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2018
BACKGROUND Around 30% of people who are admitted to hospital with aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) will rebleed in the initial month after the haemorrhage if the aneurysm is not treated. The two most commonly used methods to occlude the aneurysm

Characterizing the Healthcare Utilization and Costs of Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is the second‐most common inherited bleeding disorder worldwide, afflicting one in 4000–5000 people, and is the most morbid inherited bleeding disorder of women. HHT causes recurrent severe epistaxis, chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, heavy menstrual bleeding, and arteriovenous malformations in the ...

Endovascular Repair of Traumatic Isthmic Ruptures: Special Concerns

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2017
Injury of the aortic isthmus is the second most frequent cause of death in cases of blunt traumatic injury. Conventional open repair is related to significant morbidity and mortality.

Volume Flow and Peak Systolic Velocity of the Arteriovenous Circuit in Patients after Percutaneous Deep Venous Arterialization

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2020
Percutaneous deep venous arterialization (pDVA) is a developing technique for limb salvage in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia by creating an arteriovenous (AV) circuit.

Influence of the arterial elastic component on the response to balloon angioplasty in femoral arteries of a healthy porcine model

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the role of elastin in vascular response 28 days after balloon angioplasty using uncoated and paclitaxel‐coated balloons in a healthy porcine model. The results show higher elastin content in external femoral arteries, which is inversely correlated with vascular injury, inflammation, smooth muscle cell loss, proteoglycan and fibrin

Endovascular Treatment Decisions in Patients with M2 Segment MCA Occlusions

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Neuroradiology, 2020
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Endovascular therapy in acute ischemic stroke is rapidly evolving. We explored physicians’ treatment attitudes and practice in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to M2 occlusion, given the absence of Level-1 guidelines ...

Open and Endovascular Management of Aortic Aneurysms

open access: yesCirculation Research, 2019
Aneurysmal disease can affect any segment of the aorta, from the aortic root to the aortic bifurcation. The treatment of aortic aneurysms has evolved dramatically in the past 3 decades, with the introduction of endovascular aneurysm repair using stent ...

Impact of Diabetes on Long‐Term Outcomes of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for Coronary Bifurcation Lesions

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a well‐known risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery diseases (CAD). Complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) such as PCI for bifurcation lesions often yields poor outcomes, especially in DM patients.

Effectiveness and Safety of Myval Versus Other Transcatheter Valves in Patients Undergoing TAVI: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has changed the treatment of aortic stenosis. The Myval transcatheter heart valve (THV), a novel balloon‐expandable THV, has shown promising outcomes. Our aim is to compare the comparative safety and effectiveness of Myval THV against established THVs, such as Sapien and Evolut.
