This chapter will review the current status of scientific knowledge to support evidence-based medicine guidelines for the endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular disease. Three major areas of cerebrovascular disease will be examined, (1) occlusive cerebrovascular disease, (2) vascular malformations and (3) intracranial aneurysms.

Endovascular Aortic Repair Complications and the Power of Endovascular Solutions
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2018We report the case of a 75-year-old man submitted to traditional endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm. He presented a late type II endoleak 6 months after operation, initially without sac enlargement. One year later, a computed tomography scan control demonstrated a sac expansion >10 mm, also responsible for a ...

Endovascular Robotic Interventions
Neurosurgery Clinics of North America, 2022After robotic systems were approved for peripheral vascular interventions, many centers adopted this technology in treating carotid diseases. Robotic systems provide several advantages by eliminating radiation exposure and decreasing the rate of musculoskeletal injuries among interventionalists.

Partially thrombosed giant aneurysms that are located at the basilar artery (BA) bifurcation and are not amenable to clip application are among the most challenging lesions for neurosurgeons. They compress vital structures such as the brainstem and the thalamus, and the prognosis is extremely poor when they are left untreated.

Hemodynamics of endovascular prostheses
Journal of Biomechanics, 1997A surgical study (Bergeron et al., 1991, International Angiology 10(3), 182-186) picked out that re-endothelialization of implanted expandable stents, frequently used to reduce the recurrent stenosis rate after balloon angioplasty, was correct and more rapid in femoro-popliteal arteries (quasi-straight vessels) than in iliac arteries (bifurcated ...

The purpose of this review is to compare conventional endovascular procedures and the robotic endovascular approach in aortic aneurysm repair. Despite advantages over open surgery, conventional endovascular surgery has limitations. To develop an alternative, efforts have been focused on robotic endovascular systems.

Headache and endovascular procedures
Neurological Sciences, 2017The International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3 beta) includes headache attributed to intracranial endovascular procedures (EVPs). The aim of this review is to describe the clinical and pathophysiological aspects of headache related to vascular lesions and EVPs.

Vascular access-related procedures commonly performed by nephrologists include percutaneous balloon angioplasty, intravascular coil and stent insertion, thrombectomy, vascular mapping and tunneled hemodialysis catheter-related procedures. In addition, using vein obliteration and percutaneous balloon angioplasty techniques, nephrologists have recently ...
