An Aortoenteric Fistula Arising after Endovascular Management of a Mycotic Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Complicated with a Psoas Abscess

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Mycotic aortic aneurysms account for 1–3% of all aortic aneurysms. The management of this disease is controversial. Since open surgical repair is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, endovascular aneurysm repair is an alternative treatment

Comparison of 3‐Dimensional Ultrasound and Computed Tomography for Imaging of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives Three‐dimensional ultrasound (3D US) is emerging as a novel imaging method for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) as it creates a low‐cost 3D AAA overview without harmful radiation and nephrotoxic contrast agents, as opposed to conventional imaging. 3D US can be used with a non‐nephrotoxic contrast agent (3D‐CEUS) for lumen delineation.

Salvage of bilateral renal artery occlusion after endovascular aneurysm repair with open splenorenal bypass

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2017
We report renal salvage maneuvers after accidental bilateral renal artery coverage during endovascular aneurysm repair of an infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Novel technique for inline orientation of disarticulated limbs to seal type III endoleaks

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2023
In this report, we present a novel maneuver used to align disarticulated limbs to resolve a type III endoleak. The patient, a 77-year-old man, initially underwent endovascular abdominal aortic repair for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm in 2017 ...

Small‐Scale Magnetic Soft Robots for Medical Applications: From Laboratory to Clinical Use

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
Small‐scale magnetic soft robots are emerging as promising platforms for minimally invasive diagnosis and therapy in complex in vivo environments. This review compares untethered and tethered medical magnetic robots in parallel across five translational stages, from basic performance testing to clinical evaluation.

Delayed paraplegia after endovascular repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm after lumboperitoneal shunting

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2023
Spinal cord ischemia is a rare but catastrophic complication of elective endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. We report a case of delayed spinal cord ischemia after the elective endovascular repair of an infrarenal aortic aneurysm in a patient ...

Contrast‐Induced Encephalopathy Following Elective Endovascular Aneurysm Treatment: The Role of Dual‐Energy CT and Correlation With Delphi Diagnostic Criteria

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Contrast‐induced encephalopathy (CIE) is an increasingly recognised neurological complication of iodinated contrast administration during neurointerventional procedures. Recently published 2025 Delphi‐based diagnostic criteria and management algorithms aim to standardise clinical practice; however, optimal neuroimaging strategies ...

Radiation‐Induced Cutaneous Tissue Reactions in Neurointerventional Procedures: A Systematic Review of Reported Effects and Associated Dose Levels

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neurointerventional procedures can deliver high localised skin doses and may cause radiation‐induced cutaneous tissue reactions, yet the doses at which these occur have not been synthesised specifically for this setting. We systematically reviewed reported cutaneous reactions and associated radiation doses after fluoroscopy‐ or digital ...

Targeting PCSK9 in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells: An Effective Strategy to Suppress Ferroptosis and Attenuate Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Progression

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
PCSK9 aggravates AAA by promoting ferroptosis in VSMCs. In the pathological AAA environment, PCSK9 upregulation triggers ferritinophagy‐dependent degradation of FTH1, leading to Fe2+ release, triggering lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis, exacerbating AAA.

A case of acute ischemic colitis after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair

open access: yesJournal of Acute Disease, 2016
Colonic ischemia is a recognized complication of either open or endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. The clinical difficulty in establishing the diagnosis, the severity of this complication and the patient's poor physiological status may lead ...
