The Global Burden of Aortic Aneurysm and Its Attributable Risk Factors, 1990–2021: Results from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Aortic aneurysm (AA) is a potentially fatal aortic disorder, particularly when complicated by rupture. Using Global Burden of Disease 2021 estimates, this study reported worldwide changes in AA mortality, disability‐adjusted life years (DALYs), and modeled risk‐attributable burden from 1990 to 2021.

Endovascular repair of ascending aortic dissection

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Cirurgia Cardiovascular, 2013
Woman, 84 years-old, with Stanford type A thoracic aortic dissection committing aortic arch and descending aorta. Proposed and accepted endovascular treatment according to the severity of the clinical picture. Common femoral artery dissection bilaterally was done. Aortography confirmed the exclusion of the false lumen and patency of the coronary ostia.

Vascular Calcification: Mechanisms, Models, and Therapies

open access: yesiNew Medicine, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Vascular calcification represents an active multifactorial process that mirrors several key features of skeletal bone mineralization. Clinically, it is characterized by diminished arterial compliance and increased arterial wall stiffness, both of which serve as independent predictors of significant adverse cardiovascular events.

Outcomes from the Gore Global Registry for Endovascular Aortic Treatment in patients undergoing thoracic endovascular aortic repair for type B dissection.

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 2018
OBJECTIVE The Global Registry for Endovascular Aortic Treatment (GREAT) is a prospective multicenter registry collecting real-world data on the performance of W. L. Gore (Flagstaff, Ariz) aortic endografts. The purpose of the present study was to analyze

Simultaneous Volumetric T1 and T2 Mapping With Blood‐ and Fat‐Suppression in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 6, Page 3416-3428, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop and validate a protocol for simultaneous volumetric T1 and T2 mapping with blood‐ and fat‐suppression, and apply it to patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) to assess tissue characteristics. Methods A spoiled gradient echo (SPGR) variable flip angle (VFA) acquisition was modified with preparation modules to suppress

Tissue‐retained needles in people who inject drugs: A systematic review of case reports and series on clinical presentations, complications and management

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 121, Issue 6, Page 1381-1397, June 2026.
Abstract Background and aims Tissue‐retained needles from intravenous drug use can cause rare but severe complications, ranging from local to systemic infections to needle embolization. Due to the limited evidence and the lack of epidemiological studies on the issue, we systematically reviewed the literature focusing on case reports and case series on ...

Comparative effectiveness of endovascular and surgical repair of ruptured abdominal aneurysm

open access: yesConsilium Medicum
Background. Abdominal aortic aneurysm rupture is a life threating condition, that requires emergent intervention. At the present stage endovascular aortic repair should be performed, when possible, as a first line strategy, but stent-grafts have some ...

Systemic Inflammatory Response and Severe Thrombocytopenia after Endovascular Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Repair

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2017
After Endovascular repair of thoracic aortic aneurysm, a systemic inflammatory response, named postimplantation syndrome, can develop. This syndrome is characterized by fever, leukocytosis, and elevated CRP plasma levels and its pathogenetic mechanisms ...
