Endovascular Coiling for Cerebral Aneurysms
AACN Clinical Issues: Advanced Practice in Acute and Critical Care, 2005Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is an increasing problem in the United States, affecting approximately 30,000 people every year. Despite advances in the neurosurgical field, approximately 50% of patients die within the first month after hemorrhage.

Solitaire® stent for endovascular coil retrieval
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2013Coil migration during embolization is an emergency, requiring individual solutions. A 71-year-old female patient was referred to our hospital suffering from subarachnoid hemorrhage due to a ruptured giant aneurysm of the ophthalmic segment of the right internal carotid artery (ICA). During the endovascular procedure, a coil migrated in the ICA.

An approach to recurrent aneurysms following endovascular coiling
Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, 2011BackgroundEvidence regarding the most appropriate management of aneurysm recurrences following coiling consists only of uncontrolled case series and the resulting expert opinions, which range from not following coiled patients at all to performing invasive angiography at regular intervals.MethodsWe discuss several current attitudes toward how to manage

Surgery following endovascular coiling of intracranial aneurysms
Surgical Neurology, 2000Surgery for intracranial aneurysms that have been treated by endovascular coiling is a new challenge for neurosurgeons and the need for it will undoubtedly continue to increase. The indications for, timing, and technique of surgery in our experience are described. We have reviewed our experience with 11 patients who underwent surgery following ...

Endovascular Coil Embolization of an Enlarging Gastroduodenal Artery Aneurysm
Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2023Gastroduodenal artery aneurysms are a rare type of visceral aneurysm that can lead to rupture and death. We present a 75-year-old male with history of hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia with an incidental finding of a 3.2 × 3.7 cm gastroduodenal aneurysm found on abdominal computed tomography angiography (CTA).

Coil extrusion after endovascular treatment
Journal of Neurosurgery, 2007scopic sinus surgery. An internal carotid artery (ICA) pseudoaneurysm extending into the sphenoid sinus was treated with coil embolization at another center (Fig. 1A and B). Two years later, the patient noticed platinum coil material in his left nostril.

Postoperative Coronary Aneurysm Treated With Endovascular Coiling
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2014We present a rare case of aneurysm formation of the circumflex coronary artery after a Bentall procedure. Implantation of a stent graft in the circumflex artery and closure of the aneurysm neck failed. An endovascular procedure was used to coil the aneurysm and prevent rupture. Further recovery was uneventful.

Thrombolysis for Intraventricular Hemorrhage After Endovascular Aneurysmal Coiling
Neurocritical Care, 2005Current applications of lytic therapy for intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) rely on exclusion of vascular abnormalities as etiology. Its use in patients with recently coiled aneurysms remains far from considered safe. We report a patient with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and massive IVH from aneurysmal rupture, which was safely treated with ...

Endovascular coiling of intracranial aneurysms using bioactive coils: a single-center study
Acta Radiologica, 2007Background: Some degree of recanalization is reported in up to one-third of intracranial aneurysms treated with endovascular coiling. A technical development potentially effective in avoiding recanalization is the Matrix Detachable Coil (MDC), which is covered with a biodegradable polymeric material that enhances intra-aneurysmal clot organization and ...

In vitro evaluation of coils for endovascular therapy.
AJNR. American journal of neuroradiology, 1996To evaluate the physical characteristics and behavior of coils for endovascular therapy.Mechanically detachable coils were constructed with simple helical (4 mm X 10 cm and 8 mm X 30 cm) and pretzel shapes (4 mm X 5 cm) made from three metals using 0.003- and 0.004-in wire.
