Coil extrusion after endovascular treatment

Journal of Neurosurgery, 2007
scopic sinus surgery. An internal carotid artery (ICA) pseudoaneurysm extending into the sphenoid sinus was treated with coil embolization at another center (Fig. 1A and B). Two years later, the patient noticed platinum coil material in his left nostril.

Endovascular Coiling for Cerebral Aneurysms

AACN Clinical Issues: Advanced Practice in Acute and Critical Care, 2005
Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is an increasing problem in the United States, affecting approximately 30,000 people every year. Despite advances in the neurosurgical field, approximately 50% of patients die within the first month after hemorrhage.

Postoperative Coronary Aneurysm Treated With Endovascular Coiling

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2014
We present a rare case of aneurysm formation of the circumflex coronary artery after a Bentall procedure. Implantation of a stent graft in the circumflex artery and closure of the aneurysm neck failed. An endovascular procedure was used to coil the aneurysm and prevent rupture. Further recovery was uneventful.

Surgery following endovascular coiling of intracranial aneurysms

Surgical Neurology, 2000
Surgery for intracranial aneurysms that have been treated by endovascular coiling is a new challenge for neurosurgeons and the need for it will undoubtedly continue to increase. The indications for, timing, and technique of surgery in our experience are described. We have reviewed our experience with 11 patients who underwent surgery following ...

An approach to recurrent aneurysms following endovascular coiling

Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, 2011
BackgroundEvidence regarding the most appropriate management of aneurysm recurrences following coiling consists only of uncontrolled case series and the resulting expert opinions, which range from not following coiled patients at all to performing invasive angiography at regular intervals.MethodsWe discuss several current attitudes toward how to manage

Solitaire® stent for endovascular coil retrieval

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2013
Coil migration during embolization is an emergency, requiring individual solutions. A 71-year-old female patient was referred to our hospital suffering from subarachnoid hemorrhage due to a ruptured giant aneurysm of the ophthalmic segment of the right internal carotid artery (ICA). During the endovascular procedure, a coil migrated in the ICA.

Optic Neuropathy Following Endovascular Coiling of an Orbital Varix

Orbit, 2012
Orbital varices are vascular malformations consisting of abnormal venous channels. Indications for intervention include loss of vision, elevated orbital pressure with motility deficit, and intractable pain. We present a case of a 65-year-old woman with an orbital varix, who underwent embolization via endovascular coiling.

Vertebral arteriovenous fistula: endovascular treatment with electrodetachable coils

Neuroradiology, 1998
We report a patient with an iatrogenic vertebro-vertebral fistula responsible for a cerebellar syndrome and a cervical bruit. Endovascular treatment of the fistula was carried out using electrically detachable coils. An angiogram 5 months after treatment showed that the fistula had totally disappeared.

Endovascular coiling of intracranial aneurysms using bioactive coils: a single-center study

Acta Radiologica, 2007
Background: Some degree of recanalization is reported in up to one-third of intracranial aneurysms treated with endovascular coiling. A technical development potentially effective in avoiding recanalization is the Matrix Detachable Coil (MDC), which is covered with a biodegradable polymeric material that enhances intra-aneurysmal clot organization and ...

In vitro evaluation of coils for endovascular therapy.

AJNR. American journal of neuroradiology, 1996
To evaluate the physical characteristics and behavior of coils for endovascular therapy.Mechanically detachable coils were constructed with simple helical (4 mm X 10 cm and 8 mm X 30 cm) and pretzel shapes (4 mm X 5 cm) made from three metals using 0.003- and 0.004-in wire.
