A Steerable and Expandable Magnetic Aspiration Catheter for Enhanced Aspiration Thrombectomy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel magnetic aspiration catheter (MAC) that can be both actively steered and undergo distal‐end expansion via externally applied magnetic fields. The MAC facilitates precise branch selection and enhances clot engagement by improving endovascular navigation and aspiration efficiency. Phantom experiments validate its feasibility

Branched endovascular aneurysm repair complicated by disseminated intravascular coagulation while using tocilizumab

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) has been reported as a complication following endovascular procedures. We present the case of a 69-year-old female with giant cell arteritis on tocilizumab therapy, who underwent a first-stage branched ...

Walsh & Hoyt: Endovascular Procedures - Stenting

open access: yes, 2005
Percutaneously placed vascular stents may be used to treat unruptured intracranial aneurysms (25,905) (Fig. 41.45). Endovascular approaches and intraoperative angiography may benefit surgical procedures when used intraoperatively (906,907).

Microrobotic Catheterization of the Ophthalmic Artery for Targeted Treatment of Retinoblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A microrobotic platform is presented that allows teleoperated and autonomous navigation of flow‐driven magnetic microcatheters, MagFlow, into the ophthalmic artery for superselective intra‐arterial infusion of chemotherapy to treat retinoblastoma. Extensive benchtop validations with patient‐derived biomimetic phantoms under optical and fluoroscopic ...

Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.

Liquid Jetting‐Based Miniature Robotic Navigation in Confined Fluidic Spaces

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
We introduce a new class of liquid‐jetting‐based miniature robots (JetBots) ranging in size from mm‐to‐cm, featuring a unified approach in design, fabrication, and actuation. They demonstrate fast locomotion (30.3 cm/s), rapid steering (648.8°/s), and diverse functions, such as puncturing soft materials and unlimited cargo sampling and delivery, paving

Endovascular aortic graft infection resulting in retroperitoneal abscess: report of a case

open access: yesEmergency Care Journal, 2010
Infection is a rare complication of aortoiliac endovascular procedures, with an incidence inferior to 0.5%, and it may result in a retroperitoneal abscess potentially evolving to sepsis and gastrointestinal bleeding.
