Endovascular therapy for acute limb ischemia [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 2011
Acute limb ischemia (ALI) of the lower extremities remains a challenging clinical dilemma. Treatment of ALI has shifted toward endovascular therapies. The purpose of this study was to assess outcomes in patients treated for ALI with intra-arterial thrombolysis and/or adjuvant endovascular techniques.Consecutive patients with ALI of the lower ...

3D Locomotion of Surface‐Rolling Microrobots: A Trade‐off between Hydrodynamic Wall and Gravitational Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study investigates 3D locomotion of surface‐rolling microrobots, revealing a trade‐off between hydrodynamic wall effects and gravity. Through experiments and simulations, it explores how robot size, inclination angle, actuation frequency, and surface microtopography affect the 3D locomotion.

Endovascular therapy for infected aortic aneurysms [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 2011
To determine the outcome of endovascular therapy for an infected aortic aneurysm in patients with or without aorto-aerodigestive/aortocaval fistulas. From September 2005 to May 2010, 21 patients, 17 abdominal and four thoracic infected aortic aneurysms were treated with an endovascular stent graft at Songklanagarind Hospital, Thailand.

IAR‐Net: Tabular Deep Learning Model for Interventionalist's Action Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents IAR‐Net, a deep‐learning framework for catheterization action recognition. To ensure optimality, this study quantifies interoperator similarities and differences using statistical tests, evaluates the distribution fidelity of synthetic data produced by six generative models, and benchmarks multiple deep‐learning models.

Iliac artery-enteric fistulas following failed pancreatic transplant

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques
Arterial-enteric fistulas occur from a multitude of causes, especially following surgical manipulation of vasculature. The development of an iliac artery-enteric fistula (IEF) occurs rarely in patients with failed pancreatic transplants.

Real‐Time Guidewire Tip Tracking Using a Siamese Network for Image‐Guided Endovascular Procedures

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Accurate guidewire navigation is critical for the success of endovascular procedures. This study presents a deep learning‐based framework that enables real‐time localization of the guidewire tip from intraoperative digital subtraction angiography images.

Adjunctive Thrombolytics After Successful Endovascular Reperfusion: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective The efficacy and safety of intra‐arterial thrombolysis (IAT) as an adjunct to endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in large vessel occlusion strokes (LVOS) remain uncertain, with recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) yielding conflicting results.

Concomitant presentation and surgical management of an abdominal aortic aneurysm and translocation XP11.2 associated renal cell carcinoma in a female infant

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2018
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms are rare in the infant population, when these occur are secondary to connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, and infectious etiology or in relation with tuberous sclerosis.

Fostamatinib and the risk of acute aortic dissection in immune thrombocytopenia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by platelet destruction. While most patients respond to first‐ or second‐line therapies, a small subset is multirefractory. Fostamatinib, an oral spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) inhibitor, is a therapeutic option in these cases.

Intravascular Ultrasound Findings Associated With Hydrodynamic Contrast Recanalization (HDR) of Coronary Chronic Total Occlusions

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Hydrodynamic contrast recanalization (HDR) is a novel technique to facilitate wire crossing during chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). The mechanisms underlying HDR have not been fully described.
