Background and Purpose- This study aimed to explore safety of tirofiban in endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Methods- Two hundred eighteen ischemic stroke patients receiving endovascular thrombectomy were prospectively recruited, with 94 treated with intra-arterial tirofiban and 124 were not.

Endovascular Thrombectomy, Platelet Count, and Intracranial Hemorrhage
World Neurosurgery, 2019Intracranial hemorrhage can be a devastating complication of endovascular thrombectomy (ET) after acute ischemic stroke increasing disability and mortality. Patients with low platelet count were excluded from major ET trials. This study explores the association between platelet count and intracranial hemorrhage after ET.A retrospective review of ...

Ethical Considerations in Endovascular Thrombectomy for Stroke
World NeurosurgeryStroke is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Endovascular mechanical thrombectomy is considered for patients with large vessel occlusion stroke presenting up to 24 hours from onset and is being increasingly utilized across diverse clinical contexts. Proactive consideration of distinctive ethical dimensions of endovascular thrombectomy

Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is the gold standard for eligible acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO). A few trials studied EVT in AIS-LVO with large ischemic infarcts. We investigated the impact of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) on EVT outcomes in those patients. We conducted a meta-analysis using the Preferred ...

The challenge of simultaneous patient presentation for endovascular thrombectomy
Clinical Neurology and NeurosurgeryThe demand for endovascular thrombectomy has raised significantly over the last few years, and it is anticipated to continue to grow. The stroke system of care has faced challenges in providing timely access to EVT for simultaneous presenting patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO).

[Endovascular thrombectomy for ischemic stroke].
Medizinische Klinik, Intensivmedizin und Notfallmedizin, 2018The standard of care for patients with acute stroke of the anterior circulation and large vessel occlusion is the combined treatment with intravenous rt-PA (recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator) and endovascular thrombectomy. The therapy is highly effective while reducing functional deficits and long-term disability.
