Magnetic Milli-spinner for Robotic Endovascular Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Vascular diseases such as thrombosis, atherosclerosis, and aneurysm, which can lead to blockage of blood flow or blood vessel rupture, are common and life-threatening. Conventional minimally invasive treatments utilize catheters, or long tubes, to guide small devices or therapeutic agents to targeted regions for intervention.

Novel Techniques for Alcohol Septal Ablation in Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy With Complex Anatomy: A Case Series

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alcohol septal ablation (ASA) is an established treatment for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). However, conventional techniques may be challenging in cases with complex septal branch anatomy, including hairpin curves, extremely small branches, and acute angle bifurcations.

Restoration of a Stuck Leaflet

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Severe aortic regurgitation (AR) for a leaflet malfunction after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a dreadful complication that can lead even to cardiogenic shock. New valve's design has reduced the rate of paravalvular regurgitation, however central regurgitation is still a challenging complication.

CIS-UNet: Multi-Class Segmentation of the Aorta in Computed Tomography Angiography via Context-Aware Shifted Window Self-Attention [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Advancements in medical imaging and endovascular grafting have facilitated minimally invasive treatments for aortic diseases. Accurate 3D segmentation of the aorta and its branches is crucial for interventions, as inaccurate segmentation can lead to erroneous surgical planning and endograft construction.

Hybrid Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement With SAPIEN S3 Following Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Reduction Using Tricuspid Annuloplasty Rings

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe a novel variation of hybrid TPVR using a tricuspid annuloplasty ring which can be considered for patients with very large RVOT, short pulmonary artery, and limited vascular access and to avoid the risk of cardiopulmonary bypass. The utilization of Carpentier‐Edwards Physio Tricuspid annuloplasty ring can reduce the size of the RVOT

An Aortoenteric Fistula Arising after Endovascular Management of a Mycotic Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Complicated with a Psoas Abscess

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Mycotic aortic aneurysms account for 1–3% of all aortic aneurysms. The management of this disease is controversial. Since open surgical repair is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, endovascular aneurysm repair is an alternative treatment

Machine learning for triage of strokes with large vessel occlusion using photoplethysmography biomarkers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Objective. Large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke presents a major challenge in clinical practice due to the potential for poor outcomes with delayed treatment. Treatment for LVO involves highly specialized care, in particular endovascular thrombectomy, and is available only at certain hospitals.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Angiography‐Derived Murray Law‐Based Quantitative Flow Ratio (μQFR) Versus Pressure‐Derived Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) in Moderate to Severe Calcified Coronary Lesions—The DIAMOND Study

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Murray law‐based Quantitative Flow Ratio (μQFR) is an innovative AI‐driven method for evaluating coronary lesions using contrast flow velocity estimates. Unlike traditional approaches, μQFR does not require pressure wires or hyperemia induction.

VascularPilot3D: Toward a 3D fully autonomous navigation for endovascular robotics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This research reports VascularPilot3D, the first 3D fully autonomous endovascular robot navigation system. As an exploration toward autonomous guidewire navigation, VascularPilot3D is developed as a complete navigation system based on intra-operative imaging systems (fluoroscopic X-ray in this study) and typical endovascular robots.
