Ecological constraints on highly evolvable olfactory receptor genes and morphology in neotropical bats. [PDF]

open access: yesEvolution, 2022
Abstract Although evolvability of genes and traits may promote specialization during species diversification, how ecology subsequently restricts such variation remains unclear. Chemosensation requires animals to decipher a complex chemical background to locate fitness‐related resources, and thus the underlying genomic architecture and morphology must ...

Metal Carbide Additives in Graphite‐Silicon Composites for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 10, Issue 21, November 2, 2023., 2023
Graphite‐silicon composites for batteries: Molybdenum and Chromium Carbides are used as additives to stabilize graphite/silicon composites. Spark plasma sintering technology is used to sinter the electrode powders. The presence of molybdenum or chromium carbides promotes the performance of C/Si electrodes in lithium cells, improving the cycling ...

Insights into the High Activity of Ruthenium Phosphide for the Production of Hydrogen in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 4, Issue 11, November 2023., 2023
Herein, RuP with high activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction in acidic electrolyte comparable to state‐of‐the‐art Pt‐based catalyst is reported. A pure, stoichiometric RuP is synthesized by a simple one‐pot approach. RuP exhibits an impressive low overpotential of 36 mV at 10 mA cm−2 in rotating disk electrode.

High Performance and Durable Anode with 10‐Fold Reduction of Iridium Loading for Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 13, Issue 23, June 16, 2023., 2023
A double perovskite catalyst Sr2CaIrO6 reduces the amount of iridium significantly in the anode for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers (PEMWE). High performance and durability can be achieved with only 0.2 mgIr cm‐2. Anodes with low iridium loadings can be established as the new state of the art in PEMWEs making green hydrogen more ...

Policy Diffusion Through Multiple Streams: The (Non‐)Adoption of Energy Conservation Building Code in India

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, Volume 50, Issue 3, Page 641-669, August 2022., 2022
Although the diffusion of policy innovations can promote sustainability, how this process can be accelerated remains unclear. I address this gap by conceptualizing policy transfer and policy diffusion using the multiple streams framework (MSF) and developing hypotheses to connect them.

One‐Pot Conversion of Glucose into 5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural using MOFs and Brønsted‐Acid Tandem Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2022., 2022
5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is synthesized in one step from glucose using tandem catlysts based on several metal organic framework catalysts and a polyoxometalate adding separately or by encapsulation. In both cases, the highest performance is obtained with MIL‐101(Cr) with high HMF yields of around 40%.

Analytical, Dynamic, and Interactive Platform for Generation and Managing Predictive Models Focused on Energy Sector

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Ensuring the supply of electricity in a reliable and safe way is not an easy task, especially when considering renewable and clean energy generated with wind turbines given the intermittency or variability of the wind; also considering different time horizons increases complexity. Mexico has great potential for wind energy in the Eastern region and, to
