Electronic correlations stabilize the antiferromagnetic Mott state in Cs$_3$C$_{60}$

open access: yes, 2012
Cs$_3$C$_{60}$ in the A15 structure is an antiferromagnet at ambient pressure in contrast with other superconducting trivalent fullerides. Superconductivity is recovered under pressure and reaches the highest critical temperature of the family. Comparing

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

High-Pressure Synthesis of a Pentazolate Salt

open access: yes, 2016
The pentazolates, the last all-nitrogen members of the azole series, have been notoriously elusive for the last hundred years despite enormous efforts to make these compounds in either gas or condensed phases.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

DESIGN OF SOME ENERGETIC COMPOUNDS

open access: yesFUDMA JOURNAL OF SCIENCES
Due to the increasing production of modern explosive-resistant vehicles, materials, and equipment, the calls for improved energetic materials (EMs) with a more destructive energetic capability and high thermal stability for engineering and warfare have received tremendous attention from researchers. Weka version 3.8.5 machine learning software has been

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Modeling Energetic Proton Transport from a Stream Interaction Region to Compound Streams

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Energetic proton events associated with a stream interaction region (SIR) were observed by two Solar-Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) and WIND spacecraft from 2007 September 19 to September 25.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Towards the molecular workshop: entropy-driven designer molecules, entropy activation, and nanomechanical devices

open access: yes, 2002
We introduce some basic concepts for designer molecules with functional units which are driven by entropic rather than energetic forces. This idea profits from the mechanically interlocked nature of topological molecules such as catenanes and rotaxanes ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.
