Pulsations of precipitating energetic electrons: ACTIVE satellite data
Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 1998We present the patterns of high frequency energetic electron (~ 20 to ~ 300 keV) pulsations in middle latitudes, in subauroral and auroral regions, based on low altitude nearly polar orbiting satellite (Intercosmos-24, project ACTIVE) measurements.

A coordinated two-satellite study of energetic electron precipitation events
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1975A new technique for studying the spatial/temporal variations of energetic electron precipitation events is investigated. Data are presented in which precipitating electrons were measured simultaneously on two coordinated polar-orbiting satellites and the bremsstrahlung produced by the electrons precipitating into the atmosphere was observed from one of

The coherency between precipitated and trapped energetic electrons at high latitudes
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1976Abstract Both the correlation and coherency between the count rates of precipitated and trapped energetic (⪆40keV) electrons, as observed by a particle experiment aboard the ESRO 1A satellite at Northern high latitudes (5 L = 3.4) show similar, and other periodicities. These results are discussed in terms of O'Brien's ‘splash-catcher’ model and the

Precipitation of energetic magnetospheric electrons and accompanying solar wind characteristics
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2017From 1957 up to the present time, the Lebedev Physical Institute (LPI) has performed regular monitoring of ionizing radiation in the Earth’s atmosphere. There are cases when the X-ray radiation generated by energetic magnetospheric electrons penetrates the atmosphere and is observed at polar latitudes.

Precipitating Energetic Electrons in the Mid-Latitude Lower Ionosphere
1973Satellite and rocket measurements of precipitating electrons with energies ≥10 keV are reviewed for Mid-latitudes. The ionization rates due to these electrons are compared with the most recent estimates of other ionization sources which are expected to be important in the day and night ionosphere below 100 km.

Impact of energetic electron precipitation on the northern and southern polar vortex
Electrons precipitate into the Earth’s atmosphere from magnetospheric plasma regions as a continuously varying flux. Energetic electron precipitation (EEP) forms reactive odd nitrogen (NOX) and hydrogen (HOX) oxides which catalytically destroy ozone in the high-latitude thermosphere and mesosphere.Antti Salminen +2 more
