Satellite observations of Bremsstrahlung from widespread energetic electron precipitation events

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1974
This is a preliminary report of the first satellite observations that have been made of the intensities and energy spectra of the bremsstrahlung >50 keV produced in the atmosphere by intense widespread precipitations of energetic electrons from the outer radiation belt.

Observations of small‐scale latitudinal structure in energetic electron precipitation

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2016
AbstractWe describe first‐light observations from the AC6 mission, a pair of CubeSats that are in polar orbit and whose in‐track separations range up to several hundred kilometers and whose separations are controlled by differential drag. We present temporal dose rate profiles from electrons greater than 35 keV that are very similar at the two vehicles,

Precipitating Energetic Electrons in the Mid-Latitude Lower Ionosphere

1973
Satellite and rocket measurements of precipitating electrons with energies ≥10 keV are reviewed for Mid-latitudes. The ionization rates due to these electrons are compared with the most recent estimates of other ionization sources which are expected to be important in the day and night ionosphere below 100 km.

Localization and motion of energetic electron precipitation during magnetic bays

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1966
Balloon observations are presented that show directly the motions of energetic electron precipitation regions during negative magnetic bays. Comparison of these motions with those of the auroral electrojets indicates that the precipitation and current systems have similar locations and movements, as was inferred earlier by indirect means.
