Large-scale magnetic field oscillations and their effects on modulating energetic electron precipitation

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
In this study, we present simultaneous multi-point observations of magnetospheric oscillations on a time scale of tens of minutes (forced-breathing mode) and modulated whistler-mode chorus waves, associated with concurrent energetic electron ...

Energetic Electron Precipitation Associated With Pulsating Aurora Observed by VLF Radio Propagation During the Recovery Phase of a Substorm on 27 March 2017

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2018
Recent studies suggest that electrons with energies up to several hundred keV precipitate into the atmosphere associated with pulsating aurora (PsA). It is debated the highest energy of precipitating electrons associated with PsA.

TEC enhancement due to energetic electrons above Taiwan and the West Pacific

open access: yes, 2013
The energetic electrons of the inner radiation belt during a geomagnetic disturbance can penetrate in the forbidden range of drift shells located at the heights of the topside equatorial ionosphere (

Ground-based estimates of outer radiation belt energetic electron precipitation fluxes into the atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
AARDDVARK data from a radio wave receiver in Sodankyla, Finland have been used to monitor transmissions across the auroral oval and just into the polar cap from the very low frequency communications transmitter, call sign NAA (24.0 kHz, 44 degrees N, 67 ...

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Ionization in the Earth’s Atmosphere Due to Isotropic Energetic Electron Precipitation: Ion Production and Primary Electron Spectra

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
Energetic electron precipitation (EEP) via atmospheric ion production rates is a natural force acting on the atmosphere and climate systems. The correct estimation of EEP ion production and spectra for the computation of ionization rates is an important ...

Hard X-ray emitting energetic electrons and photospheric electric currents

open access: yes, 2015
The energy released during solar flares is believed to be stored in non-potential magnetic fields associated with electric currents flowing in the corona.

Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
