Thermal Shock Resistance of Commercial Oxide-Bonded Silicon Carbide Reticulated Foams under Concentrated Solar Radiation at PSA: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesInorganics
Volumetric ceramic receivers can be regarded as a promising technology to heat air above 1000 °C for solar thermal electricity production. In this study, the thermal shock behavior of commercial 10 ppi (A) and 20 ppi (B) oxide-bonded silicon carbide (ob ...

Estabelecimento do Conceito de Temperatura como uma grandeza derivada da Energia e da Entropia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2002
Temperature is introduced as a derived concept from energy and entropy. We consider two sub-systems in equilibrium for several configurations. The equality of temperature of the sub-systems is obtained from the equilibrium condition. The isothermal transformation is defined for several configurations and from this definition we obtain the Clausius ...

The end of the Galactic spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We use a diffusion galactic model to analyze the end of the Galactic cosmic ray spectrum and its mixing with the extragalactic cosmic ray flux. We analyze the transition between Galactic and extragalactic components using two different extragalactic models.

Galactic neutrino background from cosmic ray interaction with the ISM content [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We use a diffusive model for the propagation of Galactic cosmic rays to estimate the charged pion production in interactions with protons of the interstellar medium. Cosmic ray nuclei from proton to iron are considered and the corresponding contribution to the neutrino secondary flux produced as a result of spallation is also estimated.

A software for learning Information Theory basics with emphasis on Entropy of Spanish [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Energia y Computacion, Vol. 16, No.1, June 2008, pp.58-64, 2007
In this paper, a tutorial software to learn Information Theory basics in a practical way is reported. The software, called IT-tutor-UV, makes use of a modern existing Spanish corpus for the modeling of the source. Both the source and the channel coding are also included in this educational tool as part of the learning experience.

TRIBUTAÇÃO E BENEFÍCIOS FISCAIS DECORRENTES DA GERAÇÃO DISTRIBUÍDA DE ENERGIA SOLAR

open access: yesRevista do Direito Público
Nos dias atuais, há um enorme esforço global de incentivo às fontes alternativas de produção de energia elétrica mais sustentáveis e de menor emissão de poluentes e gases de efeito estufa, sendo, entre elas, a geração de energia solar.

QCD Phenomenology [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Quantum Chromodynamics is the most successful theory in particle physics. The understanding of all different signals at hadron colliders have been achieved due to the correct interpretation of the theory. In this paper we review some basic features of the theory of strong interactions and how it could be used in order to provide phenomenological ...

Quark Yukawa pattern from spontaneous breaking of flavour $SU(3)^3$ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
A $SU(3)_Q \times SU(3)_u \times SU(3)_d$ invariant scalar potential breaking spontaneously the quark flavour symmetry can explain the standard model flavour puzzle. The approximate alignment in flavour space of the vacuum expectation values of the up and down `Yukawa fields' results as a dynamical effect.
