Prospects for public participation in energy transitions in Canada: Householders' interests in hosting, coordinating, and trading electricity at the local level

open access: yesCanadian Geographer / Le géographe canadien, Volume 69, Issue 4, Winter / hiver 2025.
Abstract In Canada, climate change and the rising cost of fossil fuel‐based energy are driving a transition to cleaner local energy systems—combining renewable energy, storage, and smart devices. While these technologies are important, without public support and participation, they will not ensure a just and sustainable transition.

Towards a better understanding of avian collision in wind energy facilities using automatic detection systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 6, Page 1437-1448, June 2025.
Data from automatic detection systems are a promising non‐invasive approach that requires few human and logistical resources to develop a more comprehensive bird collision risk mitigation strategy. They can be valuable to biodiversity stakeholders to highlight environmental factors that locally increase bird exposure and sensitivity, to avoid ...

In Tune With the Times? When Neo‐Peasants Choose Animal Traction to be Part of a More Sustainable Production Model

open access: yesSociologia Ruralis, Volume 65, Issue 1, January 2025.
ABSTRACT As regards alternative agricultural practices today, it is worth noticing the increase in the use of animal traction (AT) in France. Yet, the reasons for this reappropriation remain unclear. The life paths and motivations of users are the focus of this article. The study is based on 33 qualitative interviews with French farmers. It uses Gasson'
