Understanding the true nature of viscoelastic behaviors in multi-physical systems has always been a challenging issue in system dynamic investigations, as each existing physical subdomain of the system may follow a different attenuation pattern during the dynamic process.

AN ENERGY-BASED ADAPTIVE VOICE DETECTION APPROACH
2006 8th international Conference on Signal Processing, 2006In this paper we proposed an energy-based adaptive voice detection approach for the front-end of ASR. The main idea of the approach is as follows. Firstly, compute the short-term energy and SNR. Secondly, select the threshold value based on SNR and reference energy based on lower short-term energies.

An Approach of Renewable Energy Based on Machine Learning
Renewable energy comes from natural resources that replenish more quickly than they are used up. Compared with burning fossil fuels, producing renewable energy produces a lot fewer emissions. The key to solving the climate catastrophe is shifting away from fossil fuels, which presently provide the majority of emissions, and toward renewable energy. TheSumanta Kuila +4 more

Consciousness: An Energy-Based Approach to Information Generation
Journal of Consciousness StudiesA fundamental question in the field of consciousness is how and why physical processes in the brain give rise to consciousness, a problem named the ‘hard problem of consciousness’ by David Chalmers. Despite numerous studies, neuroscience has yet to agree on a single account that addresses the hard problem of consciousness. Here, I introduce the energy-

An energy-based closed-form approach to interfaces
The mechanical behavior and failure of thin-layered systems — such as coatings, adhesive bonds, and naturally stratified snowpacks — are governed by pronounced elastic contrasts, geometric constraints, and complex loading conditions. Traditional numerical or empirical approaches often fail to provide insight into the fundamental mechanics of these ...openaire +1 more source

AN ENERGY BASED APPROACH TO MODELLING HYSTERETIC DAMPING
The use of viscous damping has been long proven ineffective for the prediction of the seismic response in systems where high nonlinearities are expected. This paper presents a novel modelling approach for damping in structures. This model builds on the reduced hysteretic model proposed by Akiyama and uses a hysteretic plastic hinge as an energy ...openaire +1 more source
Aggregate Productivity under an Energy-Based Approach
2016Obtaining reliable data on capital is a recurring challenge when estimating economy-wide productivity growth, especially for developing countries. In this paper I construct energy-based productivity series which use energy consumption instead of capital when making such estimates. I first show that—for the U.S.
