Release and Absorption of Energy
1996A typical pipework layout, with controls, for a gas-fired atmospheric burner attached to a domestic boiler is shown in figure 4.1. An atmospheric burner is one in which the air for combustion is naturally aspirated and the pressure inside the boiler combustion chamber is just below atmospheric.

Fixed Energy X-ray Absorption Voltammetry
Analytical Chemistry, 2013In this paper, the fixed energy X-ray absorption voltammetry (FEXRAV) is introduced. FEXRAV represents a novel in situ X-ray absorption technique for fast and easy preliminary characterization of electrode materials and consists of recording the absorption coefficient at a fixed energy while varying at will the electrode potential. The energy is chosen

Energy and Nitrogen Absorption after Biliopancreatic Diversion
Obesity Surgery, 2000The strict long-term weight maintenance in good nutritional conditions observed after biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) needs to be explained.15 operated subjects were maintained at an isoenergetic and isonitrogenic diet as similar as possible to their usual diet.

Measurement of Energy Absorption by Ionization Chambers
The British Journal of Radiology, 1956It has been shown by Gray (1929) that in certain conditions the ionization in a small gas-filled cavity in a medium irradiated by ionizing radiations is related to the absorption of energy in the medium by the equation: where Em is the energy absorbed per unit mass of the medium, Jm is the number of ions formed per unit mass of the gas, W is the ...

An ironic consequence of modern highways has been the emergence of new types of accidents. Recent investigations (1) have shown that "running off the road" may be the largest, single cause of fatalities on limited access, multilane roads. According to the 1967 Report of the Special AASHO Traffic Safety Committee ("Yellow Book") (2) the rate of ...

Landau Damping and Resonant Energy Absorption
Physical Review, 1962A physical interpretation of the Landau damping is given based on the Vlasov equations. It is shown that Landau's discussion and Kidal's calculation of resonant energy absorption are equivalent. It is also found possible to compare the analysis based on the Vlasov equations to Dawson's intuitive formulation.
