Calibration of a JSEM-200 electron microscope. [PDF]
The results of a detailed calibration of a JSEM-200 scanning transmission electron microscope are reported. Two types of measurements have been made: (a) calibration of the various parameters associated with scanning transmission (STEM) imaging, and (b)

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

24-hour dietary recalls as reference calibration measurements in EPIC: from statistical theory to epidemiological application [PDF]
Large multi-centre cohort studies have been set up with the aim of increasing the statistical power to detect an association between diet and disease by including study populations varying both in dietary exposures and outcome diseases.

Prompt energy calibration at RENO [PDF]
RENO (Reactor Experiment for Neutrino Oscillation) has obtained the first measured value of effective neutrino mass difference from a spectral analysis of reactor neutrino disappearance. The measurement absolutely relies on the accurate energy calibration.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
