Weatherization Assistance and Low-Income Households [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Weatherization is one of the most efficient affordable housing tools available to communities and residents. Weatherization is defined as the practice of protecting a building from the elements (such as sunlight, precipitation and wind) and modifying the

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Empowering Consumers within Energy Communities to Acquire PV Assets through Self-Consumption

open access: yesElectricity, 2022
The use of photovoltaic energy (PV) and the involvement of residents within energy communities are becoming increasingly important elements of decentralized energy systems.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Alaska Community Fuel Use [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The goal of this project was to estimate the amount of fuel used for space heating and electricity production by communities in Alaska. No comprehensive Alaska fuel use data exist at the community level. Community fuel consumption by type of fuel and end

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Evaluating the Potential of MAMCA as a Framework for Stakeholder Engagement during the Setup of Energy Communities

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The current energy transition is characterized by a high level of consumer and prosumer involvement. Energy communities (ECs) are instruments that fit into this trend, as they organize the collective and mainly citizen-driven exchange of clean energy ...

Factors Influencing Success of Wind-Diesel Hybrid Systems in Remote Alaska Communities: Results of an Informal Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In 2008 the Alaska State Legislature created and funded the Renewable Energy Fund. As a result of this available funding, the number of wind-diesel hybrid power systems is increasing dramatically in rural Alaska.

Energy-efficiency evaluation of Intel KNL for HPC workloads [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Energy consumption is increasingly becoming a limiting factor to the design of faster large-scale parallel systems, and development of energy-efficient and energy-aware applications is today a relevant issue for HPC code-developer communities.
