Wind Energy Conversion Efficiency Limit
Wind Engineering, 2006The momentum analysis of Sharpe [3] is considered further. It is shown that the maximum wind energy conversion efficiency limit, or the Betz limit of 59.3%, deduced from conventional actuator disc theory is the limiting stationary maximum value as wind turbine rotor speed approaches infinity and rotor outlet swirl approaches zero.

Efficient solar energy conversion with CuInS2
Nature, 1986The high absorptivity associated with a direct energy gap in the optimum range for solar-energy conversion makes CuInS2 a particularly promising material for efficient solar-energy conversion1. Achieved solar-to-electrical conversion efficiencies have been limited to ∼6% (refs 2–8).

High Energy Conversion Efficiency in Nanofluidic Channels
Nano Letters, 2012It is proposed that the layering of large ions at the wall/liquid interface of nanofluidic channels can be used to achieve high efficiency (possibly >50%) in the conversion of hydrostatic energy into electrical power. Large ions tend to produce peaks and troughs in their concentration profiles at charged walls, producing high concentrations far from ...

Energy Efficiency and Conversion
Abstract:The increase demand of energy is due to advance technology and appliances. However, fossil fuel-sourced energy is harmful for environment. Green energy is an alternative to curbing the energy demand. Photovoltaic cells, hydro turbines, and fuel cells are the most efficient sources of green energy. Fuel cells have been modified to utilize fuelsShabbir, Safoora +3 more

Energy Conversion Efficiency of High-Order Raman Soliton
Optica Advanced Photonics Congress 2022, 2022We predict analytically the energy conversion efficiency from the fission of a high-order soliton into fundamental solitons. Taking inter-pulse Raman gain into account, this prediction adds precision to the inverse scattering method prediction.

Efficiency of energy conversion by piezoelectrics
Applied Physics Letters, 2006The efficiency of energy conversion by piezoelectric devices depends upon the quality factor Q and electromechanical coupling coefficient k2. In this study the efficiency Q and k2 are measured for a piezoelectric cantilever, a piezoelectric stack, and a micromachined piezoelectric membrane. The experimental values are compared to a model which predicts

Energy Conversion in Thermocells: Efficiency Calculations
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1990The quantities which enter the definition of thermodynamic efficiency are the work performed and the heat delivered to the system. If these quantities are taken for a cyclic process, one may speak about the total efficiency. The Carnot efficiency gives the theoretical maximum limit for the total efficiency.

Energy Conversion Efficiency of Synthetic Jets
ASME 2011 Pacific Rim Technical Conference and Exhibition on Packaging and Integration of Electronic and Photonic Systems, MEMS and NEMS: Volume 1, 2011Synthetic jets are driven by a periodic electrical signal to generate pulsated airflow that can provide cooling to a hot surface. The working principle of synthetic jets involves conversion of electrical energy into mechanical and fluid energy. Piezoelectric actuators, comprising of a thin metal substrate bonded to a piezoelectric disk are induced to ...
