The Energy Decay of Warm‐Core Eddies in the Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The Gulf of Mexico (GoM) is home to some of the most energetic eddies in the ocean. Warm‐core rings detach from the Loop‐Current and drift through the basin, transporting large amounts of heat and salt.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Exploring the possible two-proton radioactivity of 38,39Ti

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Two-proton (2p) radioactivity represents a rare decay mode that has been experimentally observed only in a selected few nuclei. The exploration of 2p emission is crucial for elucidating the structure, mass, and nucleon-nucleon interactions within exotic ...

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Observational consequences of dark energy decay

open access: yes, 2014
We consider the generic scenario of dark energy that arises through the latent heat of a hidden sector first-order cosmological phase transition. This field could account for the extra radiation degree of freedom suggested by the CMB.

Global Existence, General Decay, and Blow up of Solution for a p-Biharmonic Equation of Hyperbolic Type with Delay and Acoustic Boundary Conditions

open access: yesMathematics
The objective of this work is to investigate the global existence, general decay and blow-up results for a class of p-Biharmonic-type hyperbolic equations with delay and acoustic boundary conditions. The global existence of solutions has been obtained by

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...
