Image source detection for geoacoustic inversion by Teager-Kaiser energy operator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This letter presents an improvement of the image source method (ISM) for geoacoustic inversion. The new algorithm is based on the Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator which ampli es the discontinuities in signals while the soft transitions are reduced.

Islanding Detection Scheme Using Potential Energy Function Based Criterion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Owning to the extensive enhancement of renewable energy resources in the distribution grids, the employment of such sources has also introduced various issues, such as the islanding problem.

Enhanced Sensing and Sum-Rate Analysis in a Cognitive Radio-Based Internet of Things

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Spectrum sensing plays a vital role in cognitive radio networks (CRNs) for identifying the spectrum hole. However, an individual cognitive radio user in a CRN does not obtain sufficient sensing performance and sum rate of the primary and secondary links ...

On the Signal-to-Noise Ratio Wall of Energy Detection in Spectrum Sensing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this paper, a comprehensive analysis of the signal-to-noise ratio wall (SNRw) of cognitive radio (CR)-based non-cooperative spectrum sensing (nCSS) and cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) using energy detection (ED) is presented. The analysis considers

Modeling and detection of hot-spot in shaded photovoltaic cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we address the problem of modeling the thermal behavior of photovoltaic (PV) cells undergoing a hotspot condition. In case of shading, PV cells may experience a dramatic temperature increase, with consequent reduction of the provided power.

Detecting ντ oscillations at PeV energies [PDF]

open access: yesAstroparticle Physics, 1995
It is suggested that a large deep underocean neutrino detector, given the presence of significant numbers of neutrinos in the PeV range as predicted by various models of Active Galactic Nuclei, can make unique measurements of the properties of neutrinos.

Detection of Energy Theft in Overhead Low-Voltage Power Grids - The Hook Style Energy Theft in the Smart Grid Era [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper investigates the possibility of detecting the hook style energy theft in the overhead low-voltage (OV LV) power grids when the smart grid conveniences are available.

Limit on the Detectability of the Energy Scale of Inflation

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2002
We show that the polarization of the cosmic microwave background can be used to detect gravity waves from inflation if the energy scale of inflation is above 3.2 times 10^15 GeV. These gravity waves generate polarization patterns with a curl, whereas (to first order in perturbation theory) density perturbations do not.
