Sequential energy detection for touch input detection

2015 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2015
In this paper we propose a novel detection algorithm that delivers impressive savings in the sensing time of the capacitive touchscreen systems using sequential energy detection methods. We also show that these savings can translate into a significant boost to the operational battery life of today's mobile devices.

Improved Energy Detection With Laplacian Noise in Cognitive Radio

IEEE Systems Journal, 2019
Contaminated by Laplacian noise, the performance of energy detection (ED) degrades. To address this problem, an improved energy detection (i-ED) is proposed.

Energy Detection Scheme in the Presence of Burst Signals

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2019
This letter proposes an energy detection scheme based on short windows to detect the presence of a burst signal that spans over a short period of time. For practical use, the proposed scheme provides a simple computational method for the threshold, with ...

Average Energy Detection With Adaptive Threshold for Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Systems

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology
Spectrum sensing (SS) based on energy detection (ED) is a simple yet effective approach to detect the presence of unknown signals that are active in a specific band of frequencies. The classical ED (CED) algorithm uses the value of the energy detected in

Energy-Detection Model for Monaural Auditory Detection

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1962
In the auditory detection of a sinusoidal signal in the presence of random noise, it has previously been demonstrated that the presence of a “pedestal” or background sinusoid of the same frequency and phase as the signal increases detectability. This increase was confirmed in a two-interval forced choice experiment in which a 1000-cps sinusoid was ...

Energy efficient TH-UWB preamble detection

2009 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband, 2009
This paper presents an energy efficient way to detect a UWB Impulse Radio (UWB-IR) signal relying on a Time Hopping sequence with a non coherent receiver. This detection is performed in a periodic manner, observing the received signal on the mean pulse repetition period basis.

Energy detection based spectrum sensing for gamma shadowed α–η–μ and α–κ–μ fading channels

AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications, 2018
In 5G communication, spectrum sensing is a viable technology to use the available spectrum efficiently. Energy detection based spectrum sensing is known to be very simple as far as the implementation of hardware circuitry is concerned. The performance of

Macroscopic detection of negative-energy fluxes

Physical Review D, 1992
We study the response of an array of quantum-mechanical spin-1/2 particles in a classical background magnetic field to quantum fluctuations of the electromagnetic field. We show that there is a depolarization of the spins due to these fluctuations in that the magnetic moment of the system is reduced by the vacuum fluctuations. We further show that this

Ischemia detection using Isoelectric Energy Function

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 2016
A novel method has been proposed for the detection of ischemia using an isoelectric energy function (IEEF) resulting from ST segment deviations in ECG signals. The method consists of five stages: pre-processing, delineation, measurement of isoelectric energy, a beat characterization algorithm and detection of ischemia.

Cooperative energy detection algorithm based on background noise and direction finding error

AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications, 2018
With the development of wireless communication technology, electromagnetic spectrum become scare resources. The accuracy of spectrum detection needs to be improved.
