Energy-Detection Model for Monaural Auditory Detection

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1963
An alternative model to the energy detector described in a previous paper is presented. The advantage of this new model is that the effect of varying the amplitude and phase of the pedestal may be deduced directly from the block diagram.

An Energy Detection Model for Monaural Auditory Detection

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1961
In the presence auditory detection of a sinusoidal signal in the presence of random noise, it has previously been demonstrated that the presence of a “pedestal” or background sinusoidal of the same frequency and phase as the signal increases detectability.

Feature detection from local energy

Pattern Recognition Letters, 1987
Abstract A more general definition of features such as edges, shadows and bars is developed, based on an analysis of the phase of the harmonic components. These features always occur at points of maximum phase congruency, the type of feature depending on the value of the phase. Using the image itself and its Hilbert transform, a local energy function

Energy efficiency of multiuser detection

WCNC. 1999 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (Cat. No.99TH8466), 2003
We study the power consumption of several multiuser detectors in the power controlled DS-CDMA system. The matched-filter detector, linear MMSE detector, successive interference cancellation (SIC), and LMMSE-SIC are considered. Closed form analysis and numerical results show that by using a multiuser detector, system power consumption can significantly ...

Energy conservation using face detection

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
Computerized Face Detection, is concerned with the difficult task of converting a video signal of a person to written text. It has several applications like face recognition, simultaneous multiple face processing, biometrics, security, video surveillance, human computer interface, image database management, digital cameras use face detection for ...

DETECTION TECHNIQUES AT INTERMEDIATE ENERGIES

1976
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses detection techniques at intermediate energies. The need for good angular resolution dictates the use of multiwire proportional chambers. Such chambers consist of planes of fine parallel wires mounted orthogonally. The wire planes are inserted between grids held at about 4500 volts. A wire spacing of 2 mm seems
