Prototype Detector for Ultrahigh Energy Neutrino Detection

open access: yes, 1998
Necessary technical experience is being gained from successful construction and deployment of current prototype detectors to search for UHE neutrinos in Antarctica, Lake Baikal in Russia, and the Mediterranean.

A Trade-off Analysis of Energy Detectors and Partitioned Search for Primary Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cognitive radios aim to coexist in the unused spectrum bands which are licensed to primary users without harming the primary transmission/reception. For a cognitive radio, it is important to detect the band in which the primary is operating as fast as ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Spectrum Sensing With Energy Detection in Multiple Alternating Time Slots

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Energy detection (ED) represents a low complexity approach used by secondary users (SU) to sense spectrum occupancy by primary users (PU) in cognitive radio (CR) systems.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A Path-Planning Scheme for Autonomous Vehicle Navigation Integrating BJA* and Improved DWA Algorithms

open access: yesSensors
Aiming to address the defects of the traditional A* algorithm such as mismatch with dynamic environments, insufficient path smoothness and poor real-time obstacle avoidance and the limitations of the traditional DWA (Dynamic Window Approach) algorithm ...

Performance of Cooperative Eigenvalue Spectrum Sensing with a Realistic Receiver Model under Impulsive Noise

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks, 2013
In this paper we present a unified comparison of the performance of four detection techniques for centralized data-fusion cooperative spectrum sensing in cognitive radio networks under impulsive noise, namely, the eigenvalue-based generalized likelihood ...

On the feasibility of RADAR detection of high-energy neutrino-induced showers in ice

open access: yes, 2014
In this article we try to answer the question whether the radar detection technique can be used for the detection of high-energy-neutrino induced particle cascades in ice.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
