Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Development and Analysis of the Control Effect of a Reid Damper with Self-Centering Characteristics

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
To improve the recoverability of structures following an earthquake, a Reid friction damper with self-centering characteristics is proposed and its hysteretic behavior is studied by theoretical analysis and experimental research.

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Energy Spectrum Study and Optimal Design of an Inerter-Based Structure Considering the Underlying Soil

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
As a classic inerter system, the tuned viscous mass damper (TVMD) has been proven to be efficient for vibration control. It is characterized by an amplification effect, where the deformation of the dashpot in the TVMD can be larger than that of a single ...

Heating of the low-latitude solar wind by dissipation of turbulent magnetic fluctuations

open access: yes, 2001
We test a theory presented previously to account for the turbulent transport of magnetic fluctuation energy in the solar wind and the related dissipation and heating of the ambient ion population. This theory accounts for the injection of magnetic energy

A Compact Spin‐Coated Graphene UWB Antenna for Breast Tumor Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A compact, spin‐coated graphene ultra‐wideband patch antenna designed for breast tumor detection, capable of distinguishing between malignant and benign tumors. This innovative antenna can serve as an effective initial screening tool, particularly in resource‐limited settings such as rural areas, where access to advanced medical equipment like MRI and ...

Vanishing enstrophy dissipation in two-dimensional Navier--Stokes turbulence in the inviscid limit

open access: yes, 2006
Batchelor (Phys. Fluids, vol. 12, 1969, p. 233) developed a theory of two-dimensional turbulence based on the assumption that the dissipation of enstrophy (mean-square vorticity) tends to a finite non-zero constant in the limit of infinite Reynolds ...

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Energy dissipation during a rockfall and mechanical response of an energy dissipation structure

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
In this study, we investigated the rockfall motion characteristics for varying rock sizes and the structural responses of steel pipes with and without energy dissipation components. Specifically, we conducted rockfall tests under three conditions: (1) an

Energy Dissipation Mechanism and Control Model of a Digital Hydraulic Damper

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
In order to achieve the high efficiency and stable cushioning effect under the uncertain impacting situation, a digital hydraulic damper is developed which can adjust the whole buffering capacity so as to be adaptable to the impacting load on time during
