Is TCP energy efficient?

1999 IEEE International Workshop on Mobile Multimedia Communications (MoMuC'99) (Cat. No.99EX384), 2003
We analyze the energy consumption performance of various versions of TCP, for bulk data transfer in an environment where channel errors are correlated. We focus on a single wireless TCP connection and model the packet loss or error process as a first-order Markov chain. We compute the throughput and energy performance of various versions of TCP.

Brake Energy Efficiency

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2014
Electric braking systems for passenger vehicles have become more and more interesting with the recent developments of hybrid electric and electric vehicles (HEVs and EVs). The major issue is the generation of the actuation energy required during the braking maneuver that makes the utilization of electric actuation unfeasible due to the size of electric

Energy efficiency: Filter media and energy efficiency

Filtration & Separation, 2009
Being efficient with energy use isn't just about refining the equipment and the techniques you use – it's also about what you put in that filter. Ken Sutherland looks at the impact of filter media selection on the energy efficiency of a filter installation.

Energy, energy efficiency, and the built environment

The Lancet, 2007
Since the last decades of the 19th century, technological advances have brought substantial improvements in the efficiency with which energy can be exploited to service human needs. That trend has been accompanied by an equally notable increase in energy consumption, which strongly correlates with socioeconomic development.

Energy and Energy Efficiency

2010
Originally, coal was the main source of energy. It remains so throughout the 18th century during the period of the rapid industry development. Later on, oil and naphtha began to be used as energy sources and their usage expanded especially in 19th century.

Energy Efficiency or the Efficient Use of Energy Resources?

Energy Sources, 1994
Abstract This article distinguishes between energy efficiency and the economically efficient use of energy resources. Policies intended to enhance energy efficiency are unlikely to contribute to the economically efficient use of energy and are therefore likely to waste resources.

Energy-Efficient Images

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2017
In this paper, a novel method is presented for producing energy-efficient images, i.e., images that consume less electrical energy on energy-adaptive displays, yet have the same or very similar perceptual quality to their original images. The proposed method relies on the fact that the energy consumption of pixels in modern energy-adaptive displays ...
