Dynamic Testing of Cold Gas Sprayed Bipolar Plates–Porous Transport Layer Coating System in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Through direct application of porous transport layer (PTL) on the bipolar plate (BPP) with thermal spraying, the interfacial contact resistance is improved. With the cold gas sprayed BPP–PTL coating system, a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cell with a cell voltage of Ucell = 1.9 V can be operated up to i = 2.5 A/cm2 in a dynamic mode ...

Darkening nights and rooftop solar adoption under South Africa’s electricity crisis: geographies of the energy apartheid

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Energy
Solar energy is the fastest-growing renewable electricity source globally. Under the guise of the green transition, solar energy is portrayed by energy optimists as sustainable despite its negative environmental and social externalities.

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

The Climate Justice Movement in Western New York [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Although climate change requires an international response and will require national policies and actions, local geographies have to be involved because it that is where the harms are felt.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Harnessing nearshoring for energy justice: a fuzzy TOPSIS-based framework for equitable energy transition in Mexico

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Energy
Nearshoring is reshaping Mexico’s industrial geography and electricity demand, creating opportunities for growth while raising energy-justice concerns over who benefits, who pays, and whose needs are recognized. This study synthesizes policy evidence and

Integrating Energy Justice and SDGs in Solar Energy Transition: Analysis of the State Solar Policies of India

open access: yesEnergies
The transition to clean energy is not inherently positive or negative, and its impacts depend on the social context, power relations, and mechanisms to include marginalized voices.
