Substantial change will not come from incremental improvements in voltage regulator efficiency or battery chemistry, but rather from rethinking the paradigm of power consumption vs power delivery.

Diagrams for energy management in renewable energy systems
2017 MIXDES - 24th International Conference "Mixed Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 2017The paper presents an approach to making the complete energy management diagrams for a system composed of renewable energy generators, utility-grid connections and a number of various energy storages. The method is very general and can be applicable to almost arbitrary system configuration that can be defined by components and rules.
