The Materiality of Energy

Canadian Journal of History, 2018
This article draws on case studies from the energy transitions to coal, oil, and electricity in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in America to highlight the importance of attending to the material dimensions of energy systems. The essay argues that a focus on materiality illuminates both the political stakes of energy infrastructure and ...

Energy landscaping in supramolecular materials

Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2018
This review details recent developments in the design of supramolecular materials with customizable properties that can be coordinated in space and time. We highlight examples where both kinetic and thermodynamic considerations are incorporated in design, to address three challenges: control of order/disorder in supramolecular assembly; formation of ...

Tear energy of impression materials

Journal of Dentistry, 1986
Tear energies are determined for different types of impression materials. Reversible hydrocolloids show the lowest tear energy values, followed by alginate materials. Condensation silicone-, addition silicone-, polyether- and polysulphide impression materials give higher tear energy values.
