Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Energy Metric for Software Systems
Software Quality Journal, 2002Acknowledging the intense requirement for low power operation in most portable computing systems, this paper introduces the notion of energy efficient software design and proposes metrics, for evaluating software systems in terms of their energy consumption.

Energy Metrics and Sustainability
2009Early human civilizations developed along water corridors. With increasing dependency of human activities on energy, sustainability of future civilizations would be largely linked to sustainability of energy resources and systems. The tie between energy and socio-environmental sustainability, though obvious remains nebulous mostly because, neither ...

An energy sustainability metric
Energy, 2014In this paper we offer energy metric for evaluating the need for transformational technology in the context of resources management for sustainability. This metric measures the margin for improvement between the actual energy used and the theoretical minimum needed for the same task, irrespective of the technology considered.
