Speech coding for energy-efficient digital signal processing
Proceedings of the 43rd IEEE Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (Cat.No.CH37144), 2000Waveform coding techniques known from low bitrate communication are evaluated for their usefulness in low-power digital filtering of speech signals as used in hearing aids or mobile communication applications. Experimental results are presented to quantify potential power savings subject to statistical signal properties and operating conditions ...

Energy-Driven Partitioning of Signal Processing Algorithms in Sensor Networks
2006In a sensor network, as we increase the number of nodes, the requirements on network lifetime, and the volume of data traffic across the network, it is often efficient to move towards hierarchical network architectures (e.g., see [5]). In such hierarchical networks, sensor nodes are clustered into groups, and their roles are divided into master and ...

An energy efficient scheduling scheme for signal processing applications
Conference Record of Thirty-Second Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (Cat. No.98CH36284), 1998We propose a time constrained energy efficient scheduling technique for signal processing applications. Specifically, we propose a scheduling algorithm, (DFMVS), which utilizes the concept of dynamic frequency clocking and multiple voltage scaling. In the dynamic frequency scheme, all units are driven by a single clock line which changes at run time ...

Green Energy for the Reception and Processing of Satellite and Microwave Signals
2020In recent years, the supply of energy by renewable systems has taken a lot of strength, particularly in this research is considered a strength in the application to telecommunications networks, specifically in the headend where the reception and processing of voice signals is carried out, video and data.

Opportunities for statistical signal processing in high energy physics
IEEE/SP 13th Workshop on Statistical Signal Processing, 2005, 2005Data processing in high energy physics experiments is a multi-tiered process in which raw detector signals are first processed locally into physics objects, and then collated into event records which can be scrutinized by a fast online trigger system.

Energy processing techniques for stress wave emission signals
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979This paper describes the construction of two circuits capable of measuring the energy of transient signals, in particular, stress wave emission (SWE) signals. Energy of SWE signals cannot be measured by conventional energy meters since these meters require a repetitive signal, and by nature SWE signals are nonrepetitive.

Signal Processing for Experiments with Nonlinear Energy Sinks
2010This chapter summarizes several notes on signal processing and numerical computation that have been compiled in the course of performing the experiments reported throughout this volume. While these techniques are certainly not limited to processing data from nonlinear dynamics research, they have proven particularly useful in helping obtain good ...

Entropy and Energy Measures of Fuzziness in ECG Signal Processing
2000The paper deals with the application of entropy and energy measures of fuzziness to digital processing of ECG signal. After the introduction the notion of entropy measure of fuzziness is recalled and the idea of a fuzzy signal created from the original signal is proposed. Next the energy measures of fuzziness is recalled.
