Energy efficient and reliable storage disks
Proceedings of the 46th Annual Southeast Regional Conference on XX, 2008Computer hard disks have different failure probability rates that are a function of age and utilization. In this paper the relationship between the disk age, utilization, and failure probabilities are determined. This relationship is used to estimate a safe utilization zone for a disk dependent on its age.

Lightweight high-efficiency energy-storage transformers
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1991A study undertaken to determine the potential improvement in efficiency of energy-storage transfers is described. Energy stores of 5 MJ and 1 MA were sized and studied. The performance of transformers made from conductor-grade aluminium was compared with that of transformers made from hyperconductor.
