Performance Evaluation of a Thermal Energy Storage
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The direct contact heat transfer technique gives better heat transfer rates. In this paper, the operation of a simple system was simulated under different operating conditions. During the charging mode of the operation, refrigerant R134a is injected into water stored in an evaporator to exchange directly heat with the water and form clathrates.

Performance of a Solar Energy Intensifier with Thermal Energy Storage
Transactions of the ASAE, 1980ABSTRACT A solar energy intensifier-thermal energy storage system, consisting of a relatively large area parabolic trough and a relatively small area dual-sided collector, was designed and tested for providing supplemental heat for drying shelled corn and for supplemental space heating. A total of 3.95 GJ of solar energy was collected during the 23-day

Performance and Energy Consumption Evaluation of Hybrid Storage Systems
2020 IEEE International Systems Conference (SysCon), 2020In data centers, storage devices have a great contribution on energy consumption and, to mitigate this issue, hybrid storage architectures have been conceived to balance acquisition cost (hard disk drives) and energy utilization (solid-state drives).

Testing the Performance of Battery Energy Storage in a Wind Energy Conversion System
2018 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS), 2018This paper examines the dynamic and transient performances of a battery energy storage system connected at the output of a wind energy conversion system to smoothen the short-term fluctuations in the output power. A low power experimental real-time test rig, using battery storage and representative power converters, is interfaced with a Real-Time ...

Implications of Energy Profile and Storage on Energy Harvesting Sensor Link Performance
GLOBECOM 2009 - 2009 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2009Energy harvesting sensors (EHS), which harvest energy from the environment in order to sense and then communicate their measurements over a wireless link, provide the tantalizing possibility of perpetual lifetime operation of a sensor network. The wireless communication link design problem needs to be revisited for these sensors as the energy harvested

Homogeneous/Inhomogeneous‐Structured Dielectrics and their Energy‐Storage Performances
Advanced Materials, 2017The demand for dielectric capacitors with higher energy‐storage capability is increasing for power electronic devices due to the rapid development of electronic industry. Existing dielectrics for high‐energy‐storage capacitors and potential new capacitor technologies are reviewed toward realizing these goals. Various dielectric materials with desirable

The Performance of Thermal Energy Storage Systems
1980The storage of low grade thermal energy in water, encapsulated phase change materials and saturated salt solutions has been studied with three objectives in mind: 1) To formulate valid computer programs to simulate storage characteristics. 2) To identify and solve any technical problems associated with store design and operation.

Performance of a magnetically suspended flywheel energy storage device
IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 1996This paper describes a high-power flywheel energy storage device with 1 kWh of usable energy. A possible application is to level peaks in the power consumption of seam-welding machines. A rigid body model is used for controller design, stability, and robustness analysis.
