Heat storage in alloy transformations [PDF]

open access: yes
The theory of eutectic transformation was examined to find guidelines to the best material combinations to examine. The heats of transformation were measured calorimetrically, and the volume changes of expanding solid mixtures and homogeneous liquid ...

Characterization of an in-vacuum PILATUS 1M detector

open access: yes, 2014
A dedicated in-vacuum X-ray detector based on the hybrid pixel PILATUS 1M detector has been installed at the four-crystal monochromator beamline of PTB at the electron storage ring BESSY II in Berlin.

Superior energy storage properties of BiFeO3 doped NaNbO3 antiferroelectric ceramics

open access: yesCeramics International
NaNbO3 (NN)-based dielectric ceramics for energy storage have garnered significant interest due to their high saturation polarization, low residual polarization, and superior breakdown strength (Eb). However, the low recoverable energy storage density (Wrec) and efficiency (eta) significantly limited their practical application. Herein, BiFeO3 (BF) was

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Improvement in flowability of thermo-chemical storage material by using nanostructured additives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Thermal energy storage is an advancing technology for storing energy that encourages clean energy systems without adversely affecting the environment. This technology allows us to use energy at different times by storing it temporarily.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.
