Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Assessing energy consumption in supply chains

open access: yes, 2006
The paper addresses the transport activities and associated energy consumption involved in the production and supply of two products: jeans and yoghurt. In the case of jeans, the analysis is from the locations in which cotton is grown, to retail outlets ...

Research on the Thermo-mechanical Effect of Large-size Cables and its Influence on Insulation Based on Finite Element Method

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
In order to study the thermo-mechanical effect of large-size cables, the thermal-structural coupling model is established to calculate the stress and deformation of the cables based on finite element method.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Optimization of joint operation of district and distributed heat sources for effective and reliable heat supply to consumers

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
The problem of optimal load distribution between district and distributed heat sources (heat sources of prosumers) in the district heating systems are considered. The methodical approach and mathematical model for solving this problem are proposed.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Topology Identification Method for Low-Voltage Distribution Node Networks Based on Density Clustering Using Smart Meter Real-Time Measurement Data

open access: yesIEEE Access
Correctly identifying the topology of a low-voltage distribution network aids in its management by power companies. However, the low collection rate and poor quality of the customer data collected by smart meters create difficulties in the application of

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
