Merchant Energy Trading in a Network

Operations Research, 2018
We formulate the merchant trading of energy in a network of storage and transport assets as a Markov decision process with uncertain energy prices, generalizing known models. Because of the intractability of our model, we develop heuristics and both lower and dual (upper) bounds on the optimal policy value estimated within Monte Carlo simulation.

Energy independence of energy trading system in microgrid

2017 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT-Asia), 2017
In recent years, interest in smart grids has increased globally along with the trend to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. One of the smart grid research area actively being done is energy trading in a microgrid. In particular, an energy trading system in the microgrid within an island should consider the own energy independence of the microgrid very ...

Trading Memory for Performance and Energy

2011
Managing extremely large amounts of data with high performance and low power consumption is very difficult. We look at this urgent problem from an architectural perspective and present our prototype design and implementation of a three-layer database storage system, which uses flash-based devices as an intermediate caching layer.

Solar hydrogen energy trade

Energy Policy, 1991
Abstract Traditionally, more than 90% (1989) of the world's requirements for primary energy have been met by coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear energy, the rest met by biomass and hydropower. Efficient energy-use is beginning to be viewed as an additional ‘energy’ and has immense potential, especially in industrialized countries.

Auction Mechanisms for Energy Trading in Multi-Energy Systems

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2018
In green cities, one of the most promising energy system designs is the multi-energy system, which is capable of integrating different energy resources to supply stable energy for users. To schedule diverse energy efficiently, the energy trading among different energy entities is a big issue in multi-energy systems.

Direct Energy Trading of Microgrids in Distribution Energy Market

2019 IEEE International Conference on Communications, Control, and Computing Technologies for Smart Grids (SmartGridComm), 2019
Recent advancement of distributed renewable generation has motivated microgrids to trade energy directly with one another, as well as with the utility, in order to minimize their operational costs. Energy trading among microgrids, however, confronts challenges such as reaching a fair trading price, maximizing participants’ profit, and satisfying power ...

Energy prices and the expansion of world trade [PDF]

open access: possibleReview of Economic Dynamics, 2008
Abstract The share of merchandise output that is internationally traded has significantly increased while tariffs have fallen. However, standard trade models have surprising difficulty linking these two facts. Trade growth slowed in the 1970s as tariffs fell relatively sharply while after the late 1980s trade grew quickly as tariffs fell slowly. This

Energy trading system of distributed resources

2017 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC), 2017
Distributed Energy Resource (DER) is a small-scale power generator which can be distributed in near power consumption areas. A high ratio of DERs increases management complexity and also decreases supply stability of electric power. However, if DERs are suitably used, they can improve reliability shown in conventional electric power generation ...

Trading Sustainable Energy

2019
This chapter discusses energy sustainability through the trading system and proposes regional trade agreements as means to further enhance peace and energy security. The chapter makes the case that, to achieve security of energy supply, two main factors are important: diversification to minimize risk and regional cooperation.
