Path‐Decoupled Cation‐Eutaxy III–V van der Waals Memristive Semiconductors for Mitigating the Neuromorphic Accuracy‐Energy Trade‐off

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Path‐decoupled III–V van der Waals memtransistors spatially separate ionic and electronic transport to overcome the conventional trade‐off between accuracy and energy in neuromorphic hardware. Mobile K+ ions in the vdW gaps set a wide conductance window, Gmax/Gmin, while gate‐tunable hole conduction lowers programming energy, enabling reliable ...

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...

Monolithic 3D‐Integrated All‐Solid Ion‐Gated Carbon Nanotube Transistors With Tunable Ionic Conductance for Multi‐Timescale Reservoir Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐timescale reservoir based on monolithically 3D (M3D)‐integrated CNT solid ion‐gated transistors is demonstrated. Tunable ionic dynamics and pulse‐engineered operation enable linear and symmetric synaptic updates. The M3D‐integrated array achieves robust temporal encoding and accurate classification of moving MNIST sequences, highlighting its ...

Dynamic Energy Trading for Energy Harvesting Communication Networks: A Stochastic Energy Trading Game

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2015
This paper studies energy-harvesting communication systems in which different energy-harvesting devices (EHDs) can harvest different amounts of energy and transmit different numbers of data packets in different time slots. We introduce a dynamic energy trading framework that allows the EHDs to transfer and trade their harvested energy with each other ...

Energy (In)Security and the Arms Trade

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2016
We provide novel empirical models of the arms trade and focus on the role of energy dependence, in particular of oil, in explaining the trade of weapons between countries. Dramatic geopolitical events such as wars can cause significant disruptions in the supply of oil and increase oil prices. Oil-dependent economies have therefore incentives to provide

Merchant Energy Trading in a Network

Operations Research, 2018
We formulate the merchant trading of energy in a network of storage and transport assets as a Markov decision process with uncertain energy prices, generalizing known models. Because of the intractability of our model, we develop heuristics and both lower and dual (upper) bounds on the optimal policy value estimated within Monte Carlo simulation.

Energy independence of energy trading system in microgrid

2017 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT-Asia), 2017
In recent years, interest in smart grids has increased globally along with the trend to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. One of the smart grid research area actively being done is energy trading in a microgrid. In particular, an energy trading system in the microgrid within an island should consider the own energy independence of the microgrid very ...
