Spin-Forster transfer in optically excited quantum dots

open access: yes, 2005
The mechanisms of energy and spin transfer in quantum dot pairs coupled via the Coulomb interaction are studied. Exciton transfer can be resonant or phonon-assisted. In both cases, the transfer rates strongly depend on the resonance conditions.

Effect of Monodisperse Coal Particles on the Maximum Drop Spreading After Impact on a Solid Wall

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The effect of coal hydrophilic particles in water-glycerol drops on the maximum diameter of spreading along a hydrophobic solid surface is experimentally studied by analyzing the velocity of internal flows by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV).

Role of quantum coherence in chromophoric energy transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The role of quantum coherence and the environment in the dynamics of excitation energy transfer is not fully understood. In this work, we introduce the concept of dynamical contributions of various physical processes to the energy transfer efficiency. We

Laser-assisted resonance-energy transfer [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 1999
Abstract At distances beyond wavefunction overlap, and typically running up to 100 A, the migration of electronic excitation between donor and acceptor species is generally understood to approximate well to the resonance energy transfer theory developed by Forster.

The Energy Transfer Process in Planetary Flybys

open access: yes, 2006
We illustrate the energy transfer during planetary flybys as a function of time using a number of flight mission examples. The energy transfer process is rather more complicated than a monotonic increase (or decrease) of energy with time.

Energy transfer in molecular devices [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2014
Protein machines often exhibit long range interplay between different sites in order to achieve their biological tasks. We investigate and characterize the non--linear energy localization and the basic mechanisms of energy transfer in protein devices.

Energy transfer in nonlinear network models of proteins

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate how nonlinearity and topological disorder affect the energy relaxation of local kicks in coarse-grained network models of proteins.

Working Fluid Selection for Organic Rankine Cycle Using Single-Screw Expander

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is a popular technology used in waste heat recovery and medium-low-temperature heat utilization. Working fluid plays a very important role in ORC.

New model of calculating the energy transfer efficiency for the spherical theta-pinch device

open access: yes, 2015
Ion-beam-plasma-interaction plays an important role in the field of Warm Dense Matter (WDM) and Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF). A spherical theta pinch is proposed to act as a plasma target in various applications including a plasma stripper cell. One

Energy-transfer rate in a double-quantum-well system due to Coulomb coupling

open access: yes, 2001
We study the energy-transfer rate for electrons in a double-quantum-well structure, where the layers are coupled through screened Coulomb interactions. The energy-transfer rate between the layers (similar to the Coulomb drag effect in which the momentum ...
