Hemagglutination Inhibition and Alternate Serologic Responses Following Influenza A(H3N2) Virus Infection

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 20, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Although the hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) titer remains the gold standard correlate of protection against influenza, it does not fully capture the broader antibody responses that contribute to immunity. Methods We analyzed immune responses in paired pre‐infection and convalescent sera from 306 RT‐PCR–confirmed A(H3N2 ...

Exercise training prior to and during cancer in mice preserves muscle mass, reduces tumour weight and suppresses molecular mediators of cachexia

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 14, Page 6028-6056, 15 July 2026.
Abstract figure legend PoWeR training (11.5 weeks of voluntary wheel running with progressively increased resistance) before and during cancer attenuates muscle loss, limits tumour growth, drives a transition toward a more oxidative muscle phenotype (IIB‐to‐IIA shift), downregulates cachexia‐associated pathways and enhances mitochondrial performance in

Cellular signaling within aged skeletal muscle reveals a dysregulated stress‐induced remodeling response following volumetric muscle loss in female mice

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 14, July 2026.
Muscle from aged mice exhibits dysregulated inflammatory and kinase‐signaling responses and altered functional dynamics following volumetric muscle loss, despite structural pathology similar to that in young mice. Abstract Severe muscle trauma disrupts endogenous repair mechanisms and produces chronic functional deficits that are poorly defined in ...

Reduced Mechanical Tactile Stimulation Under Space Microgravity Affects Synaptic Signaling and Contributes to Neuromuscular Aging in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 12, 30 June 2026.
Microgravity (μG) reduces mechanical tactile stimulation in Caenorhabditis elegans, causing neuromuscular decline, altered gene expression, synaptic defects, and accelerated aging phenotypes. The gentle‐touch mechanoreceptor MEC‐4 mediates μG‐induced body length reduction and extracellular matrix gene downregulation.
