Ba‐Ni‐Ge Clathrate Transformation Maximizes Active Site Utilization of Nickel for Enhanced Oxygen Evolution Performance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Discovering novel oxygen evolution reaction (OER) (pre)catalysts with exceptional catalytic activity and long‐term stability is pivotal for advancing technologies aimed at decarbonization. In this study, we present the ternary Ba8Ni6Ge40 phase with a clathrate structure exhibiting remarkable performance in alkaline OER. When integrated into an alkaline

Saarvienin A – A Novel Glycopeptide with Potent Activity against Drug‐resistant Bacteria

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
A member of a new family of glycopeptides, named saarvienin A, was isolated from a rare actinomycete Amycolatopsis sp. YIM10. Extensive NMR and MS analyses revealed a halogenated peptide core comprising four amino acids cyclized via a ureido linkage with an exocyclic 2‐hydroxy‐3‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)propyl residue connected to a five‐sugar/aminosugar chain.

α‐Amination of 1,3‐Dicarbonyl Compounds and Analogous Reactive Enolate‐Precursors Using Ammonia Under Oxidative Conditions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
We herein introduce a method for the direct a‐amination of different carbonyl compounds by employing aqueous ammonia as the N‐source. Upon using NH3 in combination with hypochlorites as simple oxidants under phase‐transfer catalytic conditions it is possible to carry out the direct a‐amination of reactive enolate‐precursors such as cyclic b‐ketoesters,

Energy Savings through Adaptive Upstream Throttling and Supply Shut‐Off on Downstream Throttled Drives

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 137-146, January 2023., 2023
Pneumatic drives are widely used for their robustness and simple commissioning but tend to have a high energy demand. A simple to implement energy‐saving speed controller is presented. A design method for the controller is proposed and analyzed by a lumped parameter model. The results suggest this approach as a promising strategy to economically reduce

Continuous Flow Synthesis of Nitrofuran Pharmaceuticals using Acetyl Nitrate

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Nitrofurfural is a key building block for the synthesis of antimicrobial nitrofurans as active pharmaceutical ingredients. Its synthesis involves the nitration of furfural, a substrate derived from biobased resources. However, furfural has a delicate heteroaromatic backbone.

Investigation of Magnetic Force Hysteresis in Electromechanical Actuators

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 158-166, January 2023., 2023
An approach for the phenomenological modeling of force hysteresis, which is characterized by a very simple parameterization and a relatively low error, is presented. The real‐time model considers the influence of hysteresis effects of the iron circuit, friction, variable stroke, and eddy currents on the generated force.
