The role of surface water waves on cyanobacterial blooms in lakes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, EarlyView.
Abstract The biophysical processes by which wind‐driven surface waves influence cyanobacterial bloom formation, transport, aerosolization, and termination in lakes represent a major knowledge gap in our understanding of bloom dynamics. We synthesized the literature that examined how waves interact with cyanobacterial bloom processes including ...

Engineering the Interface of Interfacially‐Locked Graphene in Electrically Conductive Poly (ethylene furanoate)/Polyethylene (PEF/PE) Blends

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Co‐continuous blends of poly (ethylene furanote)/polyethylene (PEF/PE) filled with graphene nanosheets show highly reduced percolation threshold compared to neat polymer/graphene nanocomposites. The reduced percolation signifies the interlocked graphene at polymer/polymer interface.

Opicapone in Parkinson's Disease on Levodopa‐Carbidopa Intestinal Gel Treatment: A Pilot, Randomized Study

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Levodopa‐carbidopa intestinal gel infusion (LCIG) is an effective therapy for advanced Parkinson's disease (PD). Opicapone (OPC) is an enzyme inhibitor that enhances the bioavailability of levodopa in the brain. Objectives This study evaluates the effect of Opicapone addition in PD‐LCIG patients, assessing its impact on motor ...

Placebo‐Controlled, Randomized Double‐Blind N‐Of‐1 Trial to Study Safety and Potential Efficacy of TJ‐68 for Improving Muscle Cramps in Patients With Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: A Pilot Study

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Muscle cramps are a common symptom in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Ameliorating muscle cramps may improve quality of life in devastating diseases like ALS. A traditional Japanese medicine (Kampo, TJ‐68) is widely prescribed in Japan for muscle cramps. However, it is not available in the USA.

Role of science and scientists in public environmental policy debates: The case of EU agrochemical and Nature Restoration Regulations

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Halting biodiversity loss, mitigating global warming and maintaining the long‐term viability of rural and urban areas requires urgent policy action. However, environmental policies often trigger resistance and highly polarised public debates, with some actors employing pseudo‐scientific claims.
