Robust Interlayer Exciton Interplay in a Twisted van der Waals Heterotrilayer on a Broadband Bragg Reflector up to Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we highlight a unique material platform capable of producing three distinct room temperature (RT) photoluminescence (PL) resonances from spatially separated regions composed of a heterobilayer (HBL), a homobilayer (HoBL), and an heterotrilayer (HTL) transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) heterostructures configuration on a highly ...

Analysis and Comparison of the Infrastructure Report Cards as a Decision Making Tool for Sustainable Development

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
Infrastructure plays a pivotal role in a nation’s economic and societal progress. However, due to the substantial expenses and the constraints of a limited government budget, the need to assess the condition of each infrastructure and identify those ...

A Novel Modified Petroresin Particle (MPRP) With Enhanced Oil–Water Selectivity for Cold Production in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel oil–water selective conformance control agent, MPRP, is prepared via hydrophilic grafting and mechanical granulation. MPRP uniformly disperses in water, cohesively expands upon aging, and readily dissolves in the oil phase. During conformance control, it selectively aggregates in water channeling pathways to form effective plugs without ...

Second Generation of Active Structural Control in Civil Engineering

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, 1996
: Research and development in active control of civil engineering structures in the United States has approximately a 20-year history. Under the leadership of the U.S. National Science Foundation in forming the U.S. Panel on Structural Control Research and in launching a program initiative in the area of structural control, there has been a surge of ...

Stacking Fault Complexions in AgSbTe2 Thermoelectrics With Enhanced Electrical Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic‐scale characterization resolves stacking fault complexion in AgSbTe2, showing Te and Sb segregation along with lattice dilation. Their enhanced effects on phonon scattering are modeled analytically. Although most defects also impede electron transport, local four‐point‐probe measurements reveal higher electrical conductivity at stacking fault ...

Ionic Precursors Transformed Into Vinyl Acetate Synthesis Catalyst via Reaction‐Driven Restructuring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that a simple physical mixture of Pd and Au ionic precursors, KOAc promoter, and SiO2 support can transform into a highly active vinyl acetate synthesis catalyst through reaction‐driven restructuring. The results highlight reaction‐induced restructuring as an innovative and sustainable catalyst design strategy.

Waste glass as additive to clayey material in subgrade and embankment of road pavement [PDF]

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Architecture and Civil Engineering, 2012
In this paper the possibility of using waste glass in road construction is discussed. Samples of clay material with the addition of waste glass were subjected to a series of laboratory geotechnical tests performed at the Laboratory of Geotechnics at ...

A review of generative artificial intelligence in civil and environmental engineering

open access: yesMachine Learning for Computational Science and Engineering
Abstract Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) advances are attracting wide attention as they continue demonstrating unprecedented potential for transforming civil and environmental engineering (CEE). Despite this potential, a limited amount of work examines the current state-of-the-art of GAI in our domain. In order to bridge this

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including
